it's not appropriate for anyone to be racist. however, no one can tell another person what they can or cannot say so racial slang stays in.
i never use the n-word, or any racial slur for that matter, but i don't care anymore. i tell people to shutup if they use it around me and ignore them if they post it. no use trying to change the unchangable, right?
the long post about the grandmother was spot on. nice work. unfortunately it's true that a lot of black people play the race card in times of trouble. the 2nd worse is native americans. black people/african americans did not corner the market on hardships, racism, or slavery. don't forget that native americans were forced into slavery as well THEN died of smallpox. the irish worked for nothing and died for it. don't forget chinese, japanese, mexican, german, vietnemese etc. i do think that black people had it arguably worst, but that doesn't mean that they were the only one. different racism applied to different races.
the point being that it really doesn't matter. going back and forth about the past and what happened before is good if you are trying to bring to light past wrongdoings, but entirely useless if you are trying to rehash and argue over the same moot point. the wonderful part about history is that it happened, is for the most part fact, and is not debatable. we know what happened with black people, we know what we should do, stop being racist. the end.
fuck.
