I don't like to buy sports games, especially football games, because they devalue in price very quickly and they have short life spans. But this game is wonderfully addictive thanks to one of the most strategic components I've seen put into a sports game. Basically, since 2K doesn't have the NFL license, they let you create and draft your own team made up entirely of legends. You can pick 11 in total, but a limited number of each in three tiers (two of Marino caliber, three of Theismann caliber and six of Mark Rypien caliber). So, you can stack up your offense with legends or your defense or go balanced. Or put your stock in a RB-QB-WR threat or maybe focus on the O-LINE or D-LINE.
The rest of your team is automatically generated players based on what kind of strategy you plan to employ. Do you want to be a run based offense? Or how 'bout a passing offense? So you need to pick which attributes the non-legends will be good at and coordinate that with the strengths from your legends players.
And it plays really fluid. One of the best times I've had with a sports game in a while.
