Buying a new bed
« on: July 21, 2007, 10:52:53 PM »
I've always "inherited" my beds, if you will.... this is the first time I've ever had to deal with getting a bed of my own. Going into a place that specializes in selling mattresses is worse than buying a car, but go into a place like Costco and nobody knows what the fuck is going on.

I just want a nice bed that isn't going to fall apart in a few months. Any suggestions, Evilboreians?

Serta or Posturepedic is all you need. You'll be oversleeping when you sleep on these fucken mattresses. Like fucken clouds.

Basically, test ride them bitches. Don't let the sales reps dazzle you with their mattress mumbo jumpo tech speak. Lay down in them, bounce around, dry hump them if you have too (I'm talking about the mattresses, not not the sales reps  :-*).

Thanks BlueTsu, I appreciate the feedback. I was actually asked not to enter any Banner Mattress stores after a dry hump escapade turned juicy.  :o

How I slept for my first year of being moved out. On the shittest floor matress ever. But it was kinda cool.

I suggest getting a latex matress. They're more expensive than gold, but the sleeping is so great.

I got the queen size Serta from Costco and I'm in love  :-*

It's my first new bed that I bought for myself as well, I recommend it if you don't need a mattress that's too soft.

when it comes to mattresses you really get
what you pay for.

Spend at least 600 to 1500 $$$ on the matress and less on the frame if necessary.

Sweetness.  How would you keep it cool, though?  'Cuz you know you'd have to have a straw there to drink whenever you got thirsty.

It is essentially memory foam covered in latex, so instead of being all hard like memory foam, it is like the softest bed you've ever slept on, but it has amazing support due to modeling. It is really rather brilliant and if I had to go back to my freshman year mattress on the floor thing, I'd probably have real trouble sleeping at night.

Tempurpedic FTW, only if you live in a constantly warm area, a cold memory foam is a bad memory foam
