Guitar Hero 80s is made of fail and lose
« on: July 23, 2007, 12:53:11 AM »
I just played through the first three tiers. I have hit every song I wanted to play (or even know) and am going to stop now. I am never going to go back to it.

No alternate costumes, no secret characters, same venues, same guitar unlockables, only 30 career songs, no unlockable songs...bleh. But most most important, the music's pretty lame and it's $50.

If you are on the fence for whatever reason: you should pass.

CAN'T WAIT FOR ROCK BAND!

1. Opening Licks
"Metal Health (Bang Your Head)" - Quiet Riot
"We Got the Beat" - The Go-Go's
"I Ran (So Far Away)" - A Flock of Seagulls
"Balls to the Wall" - Accept
"18 and Life" - Skid Row (encore)

2. Amp Warmers
"No One Like You" - Scorpions
"Shakin'" - Eddie Money
"Heat of the Moment" - Asia
"Radar Love" - White Lion[18][19]
"Because It's Midnite" - Limozeen (encore)

3. String Snappers
"Holy Diver" - Dio
"Turning Japanese" - The Vapors
"Hold on Loosely" - .38 Special
"The Warrior" - Scandal
"I Wanna Rock" - Twisted Sister (encore)

4. Return of the Shred
"What I Like About You" - The Romantics
"Synchronicity II" - The Police
"Ballroom Blitz" - Krokus[20]
"Only a Lad" - Oingo Boingo
"Round and Round" - Ratt (encore)

5. Relentless Riffs
"Nothin' But a Good Time" - Poison
"Lonely is the Night" - Billy Squier
"Bathroom Wall" - Faster Pussycat
"Los Angeles" - X
"Wrathchild" - Iron Maiden (encore)

6. Furious Fretwork
"Electric Eye" - Judas Priest
"Police Truck" - Dead Kennedys
"Seventeen" - Winger
"Caught in a Mosh" - Anthrax
"Play With Me" - Extreme (encore)

Were any of the songs you played moderately difficult, at least?

And yeah, Dio = sale.

I was going to pick up the 360 version, so I think I will wait for the inevitable downloadable content release.

As slow as they've been with the GH DLC, you'll be waiting a long fucking time to get it, I bet.

Let me clarify:I'm going to purchase the 360 of Guitar Hero II, mainly because it has the extra songs and because the PS3 doesn't support legacy PS2 controllers (yet).

I will wait for the inevitable release of Rocks the 80's in downloadable content form.

As for the Xbot comment, I just call them like I see them. I still enjoy my 360, but I'm not going to sugarcoat the fucking system whenever it's torn up twice and Microsoft tries to screw consumers out of the warranties they promise their customers.

Only one group is publishing GH, two groups are developing it.

Rock the 80s was the last GH stuff to be done by Harmonix, everything after this is done by the Tony Hawk dudes.

Ah so it could still see 360 regardless, cool. I wish they'd do some more current or famous songs on the later releases, it makes DLC on X360 for GHII kinda russian roulette.

I've put some more time into it.  Basically worth a purchase when it hits used bins for $20.  Not before.

Apparently Best Buy has it this week for $40, taking out some of the sting.  I'm gonna run out in a few minutes and confirm.

My brother bought this with the Best Buy gift card thing. It's pretty neat I guess. I wouldn't buy it, though.
