A Wooden Indian - Where would I even begin?
« on: July 23, 2007, 01:47:54 PM »
I want to get one of these life-size wooden indians, but I am not sure where to even begin looking. Western WA has a lot of places selling wooden bears n such from 'sources' but where does one find artisans of a craft? The yellow pages? Is there already a source of life-size wooden indians out there that are of high enough quality that I could avoid climbing Mt. Rainier to spend a week at the door of an Indian Carving grand master, trying to ignite his lost passion for the craft with my pure determination?

Those on that site are pretty expensive, but reasonable for the quality, I guess.  If you're looking for one more worn, they look like something that would be a fairly common flea-market commodity.  I think they're listed in the phone book.

Just search for "cigar store indian"

there are a few sites out there, shipping will probably be fairly miserable as they are heavy.

Yeah probably costs as much as the indian.

Robo: Not sure where there are flea markets in WA; I haven't been to one myself since AZ

The old Midway Drive-In up on Highway 99 between Federal Way and the airport is a giant swap meet.

I think it's open every weekend.
