Save your money dudz.  They even mentioned on EGM Live this week, that they never recieved reviewable copies.

You know what that means.......

Alien Syndrome on SMS was pretty assy... I mean the idea was kinda cool (almost like a Zelda in space), but the control and hit detection were such rubbish, not to mention almost as many respawning enemies as the arcade version of Rygar.

I personally love the SEGA Ages Alien Syndrome remake on PS2.

I saw some old videos of it back when it was on SMS and such, having not played it before, and it looked like shit so I'm not downloading it

FF2 is the worst game in the entire series so I won't get that either

Shit week for PSP

Next week is Brave Story and D&D Tactics though

what else did totally games and larry holland do?  that should be enough for me to keep or take it off my queue.

thanks demi, that's not a bad track record... the x-wing games were decent back in the day.  but looking at that 'ography, it's been a while since they've done anything else.  nothing like alien syndrome either.

so far i think the game is a serious snore...

- the combat is boring old school gauntlet style (stand in a doorway so the enemies cant surround you and are forced to walk single file into your shots)

- It tries too hard with the RPG elements, not needed and not implimented well...

- the music so far is non notable

- the only boss i fought so far was engaging as any other enemy except he shot better...

Since I cant tell if this game is a keeper or not so far , I will dedicate my PSP playing to it for a bit to see how everything pans out.

its annoying that there are 1,000 items to pick up a second and you cant really carry alot - you find yourself pausing alot, and "scrapping" (an action like in some games where you can convert unneeded items into some sort of monetary points) and not knowing what the fukk to think of the item creation menu...

I wish it at least followed the old Alien Syndrome formula instead of trying to be what could be the worlds worst dungeon crawler.

I wanted to

- board a ship
- fight a tight time limit
- rescue hostages
- barely make it out alive
- fight badass bosses guarding the exit as the clock counted down...

not having the frantic time limits really takes the piss out of alien syndrome....

I REALLY home the game gets better during or after the first ship...

no notable load-times...and I need to see more of it to comment on the GFX.

I ned to try it 2P co-op - no infrastructure mode, and hardly no friends own PSP, much less this game.

I wish the game had a great combat engine like Killzone PSP.....then the RPG elements would be sex me thinks....

Also they should let you carry more...

At the beginning you make a character - same girl but many job types. I chose survivor.

you have all kinds of attributes tied to your job class - weapon and armor affinities, strength, dextarity, aiming, endurance....you have melee weapons but I havent tried yet...

Maybe I was just to hott for some coinop super contra action to see how lovely deep it was...

thats why - I need to play more ;)

I played it a bit more...the levels are ok and do get better. The enemies get a bit more varied...

I wonder if this is more fun on Wii where 2 player co-op is easier.

I still just think its ok - some of the enemies even early on require so many shots - and so many of them spawn that you will sometimes spend like 2-4 minutes in one spot just nonstop shooting/killing.

It gets a little boring and numb feeling.

I will press on further. I think i can feel ok about keepingthis title in the library - but so far it just feels as good as Untold Legends.

I have managed to get a better grip on managing the ammo/weapon/item drops...and know how to properly use my ammo/energy.

The camera angle sucks ass. I didn't really like it. Your character is a chick, I guess she's supposed to be from the "first" Alien Syndrome, that's what the story says anyway. There's different classes to chose from, different stats like armor (what you can equip) - weapons - stats (fire resistance, shock, poison, etc.). I chose "Tank" and they gave me a staff to whack things with. I walked around and eventually beat up big yellow turds. Got bored, shut it off. abrader's impressions are pretty around there, it is like an Untold Legends / Diablo

And you have this little robot helper thing, it Crafts equipment and items for you, but I didn't understand how it exactly worked. I just clicked all the armor and it churned it out no problem.

i played it more earlier.

It kind of grows on you a bit as yiu get further in.

+ The enemies become far more evolved than the initial turds
+ they hunt, swarm, mob you and appearantly spawn limitlessly once you get past map 3
+ you get better weapons and melee weapons that actually do some vandamage

- still feels like the same old grind over and over.
- a good point of the game is that you can get better weapons and armor that start to look pretty damn cool on your character / the downside is that on the PSP screen you could mistake your character for a small small sugar ant or a flea and will only get to see this stuff on the sharacter screen / you can forget about your ad-hoc player 2 being able to see the gear you have collected too unless you show him on yer screen.

For now id give this game a 7.0 - it really needed online play and a better camera - otherwise it just goes to the dungeon crawler pile....

JPN PSN store got Kings Field today. Makes me wanna go bust out my PSOne copy and play a challenging RPG ;)
