Ann Arbor is not bad at all, although I really can't stand the uppity nature of many residents due to the presence of the University of Michigan. I love UM and bleed blue, but these people are truly disgusting. It has nothing to do with the intellectualism either: I can't stand the arrogant aura that radiates throughout the city. I live in Ypsilanti, which isn't far from Ann Arbor at all yet is looked at as an AIDS ridden red headed step child. The crime rate here isn't bad at all, yet Ypsi is portrayed as "dangerous". Cheebs lives in Ann Arbor and he told me that his mom doesn't want him walking around Ypsi because he might be mugged
Interestingly Ann Arbor is considered the San Francisco of the north; there's a huuuge gay population here, and I've witnessed my fair share of parades. Surprisingly the KKK used to also have parades in downtown Ann Arbor but I think that's been halted
