Two questions: Who do you think is cooler, and who do you think would win in a fight? I vote Knight.

iirc japanese swords were stronger and shaper, and samurai's armor left them a bit more mobile, and I think there was more focus on the status of being a knight than the duty and skill of being a knight, which would suggest a samurai might just edge out a win. Cause I mean they took on GUNS in last samurai which is a very accurate documentary.

I have had the urge to rewatch Kenshin recently. I have it all on dvd.

Season 1, season 2, season 3, ova 1, ova 2, the ova boxset.

My vote goes to samurai because knights were religiously motivated. Yuck.

But they were like tanks. My guess is it would take a samurai awhile to figure out where to stab a fully armored knight, but would he do it before the knight battered him to death with his broadsword?

I dunno. Someone should build a samurai robot and a knight robot and make them fite.

knight armor was pretty thin.

knight armor was also extremely heavy, knock them off their horse and its over. Most had to be loaded on their horses. Even the more modern heavy armor cav of the napoleonic era had issues with mobility in their armor. A lot of japanese armor focused on segments rather than plates which allowed increased mobility. Also I suspect the japanese focus on precision weapons over heavy weapons influenced the overall weight of the armor.
