None of those bands are relevant anymore. Linkin Park is still making platinum records, as is Korn surprisingly. I don't care for their music anymore but it's definitely interesting to see the aftermath of that nu metal scene. Disturbed is still doing well, as is SOAD (if we can consider them a nu metal band). All 4 of those bands expanded their music successfully

I think Limp Bizkit could have lasted a bit longer if Fred didn't insist on being an offensive, everywhere media personality.  It scared the talent from the band, and by the time the core lineup was back together, their 15 minutes was long past due.

I agree about Bizkit. It seemed like Fred was obsessed with becoming an icon of that particular time, alongside the Britney/Christina/Eminem thing and it failed miserably. After that he decided that if they released a really bad album with no promotion they'd be "street" again. Bad move. Who knows where they are now.

Today all that's left is LP, Korn, and to a lesser extent Disturbed. Kid Rock (whom I respect) is still around too and quite popular because he had enough sense to ditch the hip hop and expand to country/rock/etc. And remember nu metal was killed by that "new rock" movement: Puddle of Mudd, 3 Doors Down, Nickleback, Creed, etc. Nickleback is still huge lol, while the other bands disappeared.

Today I can't really discern what the movement in rock is; I rarely listen to modern rock stations, and even the world famous WRIF is starting to play all this sappy bullshit. I'm still waiting for some movement to come and energize rock. For a time the garage stuff did (White Stripes, The Vines lol, The Hives, etc). Rock is dead

I saw Mindless Self Indulgence early in the day and they were by far the best band of the day, though nobody else I was with agreed.

My Chemical Romance: Embarassingly poor. I've never heard any of these guys songs but the lead singer was hyper coked up and sounded like shit. The people I was with who knew their music said they sounded "nothing like" their studio album.

Linkin Park: CRAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWLING INNNNN MY SKIIIIIIIIIN. They pretty much sucked, and all their songs sounded fucking alike, but they put on a good live show and delivered what the kiddies wanted. Also, I didn't know that the main singer is Japanese-American so I was kind of impressed by an Asian guy impressing white kids into thinking he's tough. Also, they played a slow song with no rapping off their new album that I thought was okay.

RELATIONSHIP UPDATE:

There were four people in my group at the concert.

1) Me
2) Animu girl (who invited me)
3) Other guy
4) Animu girl's bio PhD friend

I totally hit it off with Animu girl's bio PhD friend (she grew up in Japan, her family still lives there, outside of LP she has good taste in indie bands, she has aspirations in life beyond watching Naruto). Her lab is also literally 5 minutes away from where I work so it would be super easy to force a lunch date sometime soon.

QUESTION ONE
Does Animu girl even want to date me? I was fourth invited to the concert, so I could be a "ticket filler" with no intended dating designs. At the same time, she went out of her way to make sure we could meet up last weekend, calling me several times on Sat. night to make sure I came out to meet her and another (male) friend.
