It comes out this week on XBLA, and I've never played it back in the day. Should I snag it? I've got 1000pts rotting away, and Marathon is looking like a good candidate, since it has 8 player co-op.

It would be cool to eventually have all three games on XBLA.

Knowing how you are about your gamer score, I would wait to see how multiplayer is, demi.

It's definitely a good game, but it might just be one of those "had to be there at the time" things.

I just acquired 6400 points today, so I'm not as hesitant to buy it. I might pick up Spyglass Boardgames. Who wants to get OWNED in Mancala?

you can look up and down in marathon, but I think its a visual trick, not geometrical. Cant remember how they did it.

Response: The physics file can be adjusted to allow for complete 90 degree up/down looking but it does not look "right". Marathon does not have a true 3d engine. It just gives the illusion of 3d by distorting imagery, and when you look completely up or down at something things look goofy. Hence we keep viewing angles similar to Marathon's (they are actually increased slightly for Halathon).

this may not be the case for the xbla remake, it may infact be true 3d.

looks real iffy with sprite based baddies. You could look up and down in Heretic also but that looked totally fucked up.

yeah in heretic you could and I'm pretty sure in doom 1 or 2 you could with the same keys. the enemies looked weird though since they were sprites.

I loved the XBLA doom...it needs Ultimate/Final doom add ons and a proper XBLA Doom II release.

Anyway - im super hypeed for this game and hope its at least better than Rise of the Triad.

If I remember correctly, the XBLA version of Doom had the Ultimate Doom levels.

Anyways, Marathon... I'm more hyped for this than Halo 3. Really.

i dunno guys - back in the day i was all about Doom on hardest difficulty and Alone in the Dark speed games....

ROTT didnt even sell me on the shareware demo.

I just around to playing the game like 30 minutes ago.

It's decent - but - im on the fence as to wether or not I should buy it.

I am going to try it in a different light and see what I think....

Also - I couldnt figure out how to get past the demo level....I remember reading something about some chips but wasnt really paying attention because I just wanted to shoot stuff...the shooting action is 'ok'. Doom calibur - maybe. The enemies are wierd and those guys who teleport in and out talkig to you really confuse me - WTF is going on here.
