I just downloaded a US demo for Jeanne D'Arc - I would guess it's available at stores as well, you could check. There are two levels, and a movie trailer.
The first level has you in a burning village, and a bunch of orcs attack you. Controls are basic, you attack an enemy and they counter. Graphics look nice, some typos going on in the text though. You can move the camera around with the nub. This level seems pretty early in the game.
After the first turn, Jeanne raises an armlet in the air and after a silly Sailor Moon-esque anime scene, she transforms into this SUPER VALKYRIE HOLY ARMOR bearing chick and you kick everyone's ass. You can only do this once per stage, and it lasts for a short period. In this form, you get to take an extra turn for every enemy you defeat in one hit.
The second level has you on a field, with more characters and you all beefed up, this must be later in the game. In here they introduce Burning Auras, which occure when you attack an enemy. A glowing spot will form in a square nearby, and when you place another character there and attack, you do even more damage. Simple enough.
You can equip Skills via Skill Stones, but you can't do it in the level it looks like. These are stuff such as attacks and spells, from what the demo threw at me. In the second level you have more options to toy with. Skill stones can only be equipped at certain levels, and there are stars to indicate how "rare" they are.
Jeanne also has her armlet, which allows her to change into various forms, you equip up to 3 gems to give you different options. You need certain amount of SP to change, and you gain 1 SP for every turn - I'm not sure if there is a way to increase it quicker, I'm sure there is though. In the second level, you get 2 forms to choose from.
In the status screen there is a triangle of symbols, with a sun, star and moon. Sort of like a color wheel or how other games do weaknesses. This must be the equivilant of FFT's Zodiacs. It looks like you can power up certain parts of your wheel to make you stronger against the Star people, but weaker against the Moon people (Sol, Stella, and whatever Moon means).
Seems like a good purchase when it comes out later this month. I think it's alright. I don't see any mention of Jobs, Classes and that other jazz from FFT, so maybe you are just stuck with set characters.
