Well, the two aren't that different, so I'd imagine it wouldn't really take that long to hack.

the current version of the PSP makes my hands cramp.  if i'm playing in bed for an extended period of time, my arms get all frail and shit.  i'm hoping it's MUCH lighter.

haha "increased loading time!"

Im more excited about the response time of the screens ive been hearing about tho. 12ms is pretty nice compared to what we have now. I dont like the glossy back tho, im already obsessed with cleaning the front.

Yeah, TV out is the selling point for me.  It makes me want to buy more UMD movies, too, especially when so many of them can be found for like 700-900 yen a piece here.  But it's mainly playing games on TV that is of interest.  I like having (what is going to be) a portable console that I can play at home, then take on the road with me.  That's a nice feature.  I used to play the shit out the Super Gameboy and later on the Gameboy Player.

My Jap Blue PSP looks nice and it doesn' smudge.  A lot of people have come up to me how I got a color like that since I brought it back to the States.  I wish they would give US gamers more options.

Why?  If so many people are already complaining about WII graphics, there's no reason why anyone would want to play PSP games on a TV.  PSP's low polys and low-rez textures are going to look really bad on a big screen.

I've already seen PSP games on the big screen with the kits that were put out a few years ago-- Games like Virtua Tennis and Liberty City Stories looked great, and this was going through S-Video.  The former was on display at a store, and I thought it was a PS2 when I first saw it.

But that doesn't matter anyway.  I want to play the games I spend a lot of time with, like Metal Gear Portable Ops, on TV.  Also it's guaranteed that every PSP game will be in 480p...you can't even say that about the Wii.   :lol

I've seen PSP on LCD TVs before but that was at E3.  They looked pretty bad to me even on a 20" screen.  But even on my PSP, I can see the decreased polygons + lowered texture quality.  I'm fine with the way MGS:PO look on a small screen.  I'll be happier if I can mod it to play it with a dual shock controller.  What WII games aren't in 480P other than WII play?  Almost every WII game I've played is in 480P including most GC games.  As bad as WII games look, stuff like NFS:Carbon & Marvel:ultimate alliance still show the huge difference between a home console like the WII and a handheld.  Car models in NFS:Carbon for the WII are at least twice as detailed as the ones in the PSP.

Not being able to output games through composite is fucking stupid. How many hotel rooms have you been to with component inputs on the TVs? Guess I'll have to hire me some hookers instead

the guy said composite or component cables if i'm not mistaken...  but just in case he didn't say composite, the feature is officially useless.

If it's 480p, doesn't that rule out composite?

That kit I was talking about let you use a dual shock controller, too.  I fucked up my PSP trying to mod it though.  So I gave up...I have one of those crappy covers you put over the PSP with a camera lens for TV output.  It looks less than average like shit.

Swing Golf Pangya and Mobile Suit Gundam.  And there are plenty of GC games that are 480i as well.  This wouldn't be any kind of bother to me if it wasn't for HDTV making all non-progressive games look kind of shitty.  It's annoying.

I have no problem with the PSP's visuals.  The games look great for a handheld, and they'll look fine on TV.  I don't care if the detail is worse on PSP compared to Wii.  Plenty of people are still playing PSOne and N64 games on their PS3s and Wiis, and PSP games certainly look better than those games do.

Yeah, this is dumb.  In case you missed it guys, you can play UMD movies with any cable, but you need component cables to play PSP games on TV.  IIRC they're all 480p only.

Same problem trying to use that kit, luckily i was using a 'junk' psp I got from a store in japan for (what was at the time) the low low price of 17000y.

Also agreed on the visuals.  Plus the advantage of WHAT YOUR LOOKING AT IS NO LONGER TIED TO WHERE YOUR HANDS ARE.  This is especially important when playing SF or Tekken, as having to hold the PSP up to my face while trying to use my fingers on the buttons instead of my thumb (right hand) is difficult.  When using a console controller I always solved this issue by laying the controller on my leg.  Can't do that with a PSP; too hard to see the screen.  TV Out fixes that problem, thank goodness.

Two other things:
1) Wouldn't be surprised if they patch in the ability to output all video via both composite and component with a fw update down the line.
2) HOOKERS!

Now I want this even more.  The two biggest reasons I want this are video out and better d-pad.  The only problem I have with my current PSP is the d-pad.
