Nah, PS3 has native 1080P while 360 only upscales to 1080P.  However, 360 version looks better overall and more importantly, has a much better framerate.  PS3 version has some tilt action though if you dig that shit.  I got rid of both versions and stuck with the supreme PC edition but I'll take the 360 version if I'm stuck with weak ass consoles.

Why don't you just get CARS for the 360?  It's Disney and I remember reading that it was a decent game.

So your TV's only 1/2 FULL HD?  J/K  PS3 is only capable of rendering most games in 720p anyway, despite the marketing bullshit (big 1080P on the box).  And 1080i/1080p HD movies look about the same to me from 10 ft away.   I'm going to upgrade to a 58" or 65" 1080P plasma pretty soon though and 1080P might make a bigger difference on a larger screen.  Right now my TV is a Sony 1080P LCD.   The one major advantage that a 1080P TV has over a 720P TV is higher pixel density.  So, theoretically,  lower rez material like a PS2 game should look better on a 1080P TV.

Yeah, it doesn't seem to make much difference even on a 46" screen from 10 feet away or more.  There're more important factors to worry about when buying a LCD such as contrast, brightness, and backlight bleeding.   I can't believe the amount of backlight bleeding on Sony's supposedly top of the line LCD panel.  Which is why I'm going back to Plasma.  Plasmas are much better with 480I/P too.  As much as I hate last-gen graphics, there're still a couple of games that I have to finish eventually.

I only have a 32 wide and im maybe 7 feet away so its hard to see that. I like my samsung set but that DNe or whatever requires some major fiddling with contrast/brightness but once you have a good custom set the tv is brilliant.

DNIE and equivalents on other LCDs are basically marketing bullshit.  With the processing effects on, the picture looks better at first sight in a store.  But when you take it home and start watching with normal ambience, you'll notice that the "enhanced contrast" just blurs all the dark details.

yeah I spent more time compensating for the special samsung tech than admiring it. Great set otherwise.

Samsung TVs are not bad.  I bought the exact model that they use in 360 kiosks.  I figured that if it's good enough for MS to display their games, it's good enough for me.  It was pretty good as a TV but it sucked as PC monitor.  720p is too low a resolution for a 23" monitor.  My current 24" true PC monitor kills the Samsung TV for PC purposes.  Lesson here?  Never use a TV as a PC monitor. lol

I heard that sony had a clouding problem in their lcd's that they made...standard.  they basically decided not to fix it so I'd avoid their tv's unless you're sure of the quality.

I turned DNIE off on my DLP and spent a long time calibrating it to get a good picture.

Sony has supposedly fixed the clouding problem on LCDs with the XBR4s.

edit: This thread is (sadly) making me want a PS3 despite not wanting more than a few games.  I'd rebuy a 360 after the price drop next week if I knew MS had fixed their hardware issues.  I think it's the talk of 720p PS2 games.

they actually have fixed the hardware issues.  all the new ones got an extra heatsink and all the old ones sent in for repairs get the heatsink put in but it'll probably be a couple months until the 65 nm processors come out but the current ones don't have the huge red ring of death problem.

I'd prefer to wait for the 65 nm revision TBH.  I feel I got burned pretty bad on my first one.  The warranty change to units manufactured in 2006 and beyond was a good year too late.

nm means a measurement (I think nanometer) and the advantage of the 65 nm processor over the 90 nm is that since it's circuitry (or something, I'm not sure exactly which part is 65/90 nm) is smaller, the 65 nm processor uses less power, produces less heat, is less likely to break, and is cheaper to produce.  that makes a console that is cheaper and more reliable.

As someone who has all 1000 points in Cars, I would suggest you stick with Ridge Racer. Or Burnout. Or DiRT.
