if you apply for a sony card before you buy it, then you get the credit.  pretty good price if there's some games you're looking forward to on it.  the deal ends august 31st.

the downside is you have to wait about 12 weeks.  with tax it's closer to $400 but I'm assuming $150 off the $500 model.

Looks like your 1st $300 purchase can be anywhere.  Why wait 12 weeks for Sony store?  $150 for a 3 months wait is not a good deal if you want a system.  Granted, there probably still won't be much to playon a PS3.  

Also, it doesn't seem like they're limiting the offer to PS3 purchases.  I think I"ll use it to buy the top-end Geforce 9.

I think the only thing that somebody MIGHT look forward to on the PS3 in the near future is MGS but that's not till early 2008.  it's definitely not a long wait if you're buying a PS3.

Yeah, but the offer doesn't mention anything about Sony Style only purchases.  Can't you just buy a PS3 anywhere right now and still get that $150 credit?

Oops, I just noticed that it says "at Sonystyle".    I figure the offer was for purchases anywhere since my parents got the same offers last year but there were no limitations on where you get the 1st purchase.

According to the fine print, you have to wait 8-12 weeks for the $150 credit to your credit card.  You still get the PS3 shipped right away.

edit: Also, free shipping on everything until Thursday.
