NEW YORK - Microsoft Corp. said on Thursday orders ahead of the official launch of the fast-paced shooter video game "Halo 3" exceeded 1 million in North America, breaking pre-order records in the video game industry.

"Halo 3," the third version of its flagship game franchise in which players assume the role of futuristic soldiers fighting an alien army, is scheduled for a retail release on September 25 for Microsoft's game console Xbox 360.

You good?  I didn't know you were a fan of shooters.  I bet Take Two is highly regretting their delay now.  There's probably no point in pre-ordering unless you need a special edition.

i like picking games up in stores, it's part of the fun. like, with vc i went to the store together with a friend and we both picked it up and talked about how we were going to play it

I haven't yet, either.  I will, though.  I was just wishy washy about whether I wanted collector edition garbage, but I am fairly confident that I don't now.

Pre-ordering is fun if the people with you aren't complete psychos.  Most people won't be but my friend was talkinb about how the person next to him said halo made him join the army.  My friend told him you don't respawn in the army.

I'll probably pre-order.  It will MOST LIKELY be fun.  Stay there for 20 minutes and meet your friends who pre-ordered it at the same place and talk about the game.  Regardless of what most of the people there are like, you know the game's going to be fun so as long as you meet your friends there it will be fun.

I know our store is going to do a Halo 3 preview party the night before the launch and order pizza and sodas for folks who pre-order the night of the launch.

For Madden, I fought and won the budget to rent a 50" HDTV and food/soft drink budget for an in-store Madden tournament this Saturday and a sizable budget for the midnight launch as well.
