Should I watch Gilmore Girls?
« on: August 10, 2007, 09:48:05 PM »
On the surface, it looks like some cornball shit that I can rightfully turn my nose up at.  I imagine watching it will either make my penis shrivel or take me one step closer to homosexuality.  Stories about fathers and daughters are cool.  Stories about fathers and sons are cool.  Stories about mothers and daughters are generally awful.

But at the same time, I hear it get high praise for characters and dialogue.  It's supposedly a tribute to screwball comedies of Hollywood's golden era.  One of the later seasons features one of my favorite actors ever (Chris Eigeman, from the films of Whit Stillman and Noah Baumbach).

Yay or nay?  Dive in with Netflix or just rent His Girl Friday instead?

Yes watch it, if only to fuel your mother-daughter incest fantasies.

I can't deal with the witty fast talking dialogue shit.  Makes me feel like I am watching an Oscar Wilde production, and let me tell you:  those Gilmore whores are no late Victorian homosexuals!

In honesty, I tried to watch it a few times during the earlier seasons due to seeing it getting hype on culty TV places.  It never really click.  Another adult soap opera, except this one is centered around the trials of a mother and her daughter, who both happen to be ultra witty fast talking anal h0gs.

Do you also hate Howard Hawks movies, It Happened One Night, Bringing Up Baby, My Man Godfrey, etc?

I don't think I've seen many (or any) aside from My Man Godfrey and The Big Sleep.

Alexis Bledel is argentinian - I really want to hear her speak spanish sometime (it's supposed to be her native tongue).
