So I walked 8 miles today...did I cure cancer?
« on: August 11, 2007, 08:43:07 PM »
No, but I felt good. :)

A couple years ago my grandma was diagnosed with cancer. Since then she has recovered and is now back to her old triflin but lovable self (IE hitting up the casinos on Saturday, cooking in church on Sunday). Today was the American Cancer Society's walkathon so we went out to support her. I originally thought we'd be doing something like walking in a parade, but in reality the event was held on a huge track field at a high school. There was free food, live entertainment, and some pretty good looking ladies in attendance. I brought vamp girl to meet my grandma, and was surprised that she approved lol. Alas she still whispered to me "Maurice...you need a church girl..." :lol

Me and my brother went around the track 32 times just for the fun of it, then we walked down the block for a few more miles; in total we walked more than 8 miles. And I've realized walking is a nice workout! I never got tired, although my legs started getting stiff after the 20th time. But hey, pain just tells you you're doing it right :-*

If there's a walkathon in your city this summer check it out. I had a great time

At my college in North Carolina I had messed up sleeping patterns. One day I couldn't sleep so I decided to go for a walk at 2am after getting drunk. I wanted a damn McGriddle so I walked to McDonalds. I got to McDonalds at 6 am and got back to my dorm at 8 am.

I rucked nine miles with weapon, ACH, weapon, and IBA ... but I did it because the modern military requires lots of marching on the battlefield apparently.  :(

Marching on the "battlefield" in places like Iraq would be stupid though lol.

I take it the army is training you to fight WWII style army vs. army wars eh?
