Video Game S&M: After reading the bioshock demo impressions....

+ I already have the game preordered/paid (no going back!)
+ I know nothing about it besides seeing a few screens
+ I never played System shock I or II

Having said that - after reading the impressions I am going to pass on this newly downloaded demo sitting on my X360.

Im already sold/convinced the game delivers - and the comments I am reading on the web are like talking to Sutter Kain fans in John Carpenter's "In the Mouth of Madness".

Its going to be hard, because I feel like this game says "next gen is really here" and in my imagination have it hyped to be a borderline spiritual experience.

I feel like abstaining will only make launch day that much better (since the demo is part of the actual game no?)

Shoul I give in to the urges and play the demo? C'mon - make the torture harder.

This game is pretty much the videogame mediums Messiah. I've heard nothing but absolute praise for it. I'll probably end up getting it for the 360 since the game seems very atmospheric and that goes well with a nice sound system.

As far as playing the demo itself? Personally, I already know the game should be good, the genre itself isn't anything new (so I know what I'm getting into) so I would be avoiding the demo (not that it matter since my 360 has a RRoD). This is mainly so I get that "so fresh and so clean" gaming experience when I pop in that lil' DVD into the 360.

i'm in a similar boat ab, i think i may pass on the demo as well, especially since a fuckload of people are having d/l issues.  anyhow, i'm going to be so busy with persona 3 if that shit finally comes out this week.

edit: too late.  downloaded it.  omg so worth it.

Anyway - I loved the demo, but it wasnt quite as good as I imagined.

I think the art and atmosphere is what carries this game. It really does feel like a LOST esque experience.

Glad I preordered.
