...and I've changed my mind regarding worst movie of the year. Die Hard 4.0 has definitely been displaced by Michael Bay's Transformers. What an awful, awful movie. It takes every shitty aspect of the script (btw, the movie follows the leaked script I read 99.9% of the time - the only changes are Energon Cube to All-Spark Cube, some shuffling around of the flashbacks with Sam's grandfather, and some editing of minor character scenes) and magnifies it a thousandfold with Michael Bay's distinguished mentally-challenged directing style. I didn't care about any of the characters, and I cared even less for the robots (there were characters in the script that could have been cut out entirely, like the computer geeks). Nothing could rescue this movie - it didn't help that the robots themselves were some of the shittiest, most unimaginative pieces of design ever. Y'know, I don't care if you think that the cartoon designs wouldn't have worked in live action - whether they would have or not, that doesn't change the fact that the movie designs are utter shit.
If it were possible to score this movie a negative 5 on a scale from 1 to 10, I would. It's that bad.
