MAF's XBL Demo Rundown
« on: August 14, 2007, 01:04:16 AM »
Bored tonight so I let some crap download while watching Season 1 of Black Books:

Bioshock: STILL DOWNLOADING AMIRITE?!?! I'll probably give this a spin before bed.

Eternal Sonata: The reason Bioshock is still downloading. I had to grab this one first. First off, the graphics are gorgeous, much more detailed and I dont see TEH SLOWDOWN I saw in Blue Dragon. The battle system is one of the most engaging ones ive played in an rpg in a while (ie: since VP2). I do however have some concerns with enemy placement. I saw a lot of patterns repeat, and that could be a problem I think long term. Also the characters in the demo seem overpowered, I doubt thats the case in the full game, I hope lol.

Dunno how well the story will turn out. Most of the shit in town was oh my nice day out - oh shits be careful with my daughter. No doubt the demo takes place in transition where nothin goes on butz killin.

Gundam Musou: I stand corrected mr distantgundammantra, I had fun with this. The gundam animations and modeling are really nice, and well...probably going to be the best gundam game for non-hardcore gundam fans since Gundam Battle Assault 2. Still wish there was a BIT more too the maps. I really do.

Bioshock is still downloading for me too.  Since 3 hrs ago.   :lol

I like Eternal Sonata too.  Game looks much better than I expected.  I don't know how the fuk Shane B thought it looked like a Dreamcast game.   I've yet to see a RPG from last gen that comes close to looking this nice.  The semi-real time combat also has more strategy than more J-RPGs.  The NPC interaction seems kinda boring though.  Hopefully, the final game will have more stuff in that area.  Like you said, it's kinda hard to judge how the story will turn out.  I don't know about overpowered characters though.  It was kinda challenging for me to get through that forest and kill the boss.  I was down to my last character w/no more cookies when I barely beat the boss.

Gundam is shit.  Looks good but it's the same old, tired gameplay from Dynasty Warriors 1,2,3,4,5.

It looks nothing like a Dreamcast game. Im not sure how you get to work in the biz if you say stuff like that. I think all the story and character stuff was pretty much left out, so im not sure what to think of any of that. The demo was clearly just to say 'here is the combat, give it a whirl'.

Yeah, before I just thought Shane had his biases, just like any other videogame journalist.  But that kind of statement shows that his Sony fanboyism is too much for him to be covering anything other than Sony.  Keep in mind this is the same guy that gave Motorstorm a 9.  His extreme enthusiam for one platform and equally extreme distate for another platform makes it hard for anyone to believe his comments and reviews for either system.

I feel like there will be alot more to the full game.
