Xbox360 VGA Cables: Worth it?
« on: August 15, 2007, 07:44:44 PM »
Is running a 360 through VGA on a new 22" better than, say, SD on a 25"+? I'm looking at Wii on SD right now and my balls are crawling into my tummy thinking about Bioshock in SD.

Anyone have experience with 360 and VGA? I'm eyeballing the Acer 22": Acer AL2216Wbd

It would be worth it.  VGA is pretty nice.  no 16:10 though.

16:9? Har har. I also like that VGA monitors tend to hold their value somewhat more than a crappy TV I'd gte off Craigslist. When I had to move again, I could probably recoup like 75% of the cost by selling it.

Get a 24" monitor over 22" because most 24 inches have a 1:1 scaling option for 1920x1080 which is a rez that the 360 can use.  Also, 24 inchers have  a higher pixel density.  22 inch lcd monitors have lower pixel densities than usual because the manufacturers kept the same max resolution that they used for 20 inchers. If you get a 22 inch, then most likely you'll have to strecth 1360x768 to 1680x1050 which won't look as good as 1:1 scaling.

But the price gap between 22" and 24" is substantial. But thanks for the heads up, it isn't something I would have looked at
