Ummmm this game keeps getting more interesting as you play it, but it sure starts slowly. A seemingly neverending stream of so-so cutscenes and dialogue where you just press the X button once in a while. Thankfully after about an hour and a half the town opens up and you finally begin to fight regularly.
Also, the graphics just suck ass, they're of quasi-PSOne levels at time. So much that the environments and the objects contained within are dull and very poorly defined, making it somewhat of a chore to just move around and guide yourself through the levels. I'm not a graphics whore by any means, but it sure is somewhat of an hassle to go from the best-looking 3D japanese console roleplaying game ever made (Blue Dragon) to one of the poorest-looking ones.
The pop and rap tunes don't bother me, they seem to be produced in tongue-in-cheek. They're hilarious and add to the teenage atmosphere.
And the omnipresent spoken dialogue is really a bad thing; even if the voice acting is of a decent quality it still manages to completely spoil the atmosphere since you'll probably just skip through the text with haste. So, make sure to turn it off in the configuration menu.
I like the battle system, and also appreciate the randomly-generated dungeons, along with the numerous novel RPG elements that Persona 3 appears to bring forth. Persona 3 also appears to offer a charming cast of characters, and the daily school life system is another welcome innovation.
