D&D Tactics: D&D Nerds Applicable Only
« on: August 17, 2007, 02:31:57 PM »
I'm not that familiar with the D&D ruleset and all those stats, but wow was it overwhelming. Game is pretty ugly, and controls are sluggish too. Does this game even have a single player campaign? I didn't even get through making my own character, and just loaded Quickstart, thinking it would just randomly generate a character for it, but it seemed like they just put me in a random mission.

The whole "two ring" system they tried to explain was just weird and off-putting, it basically summarized as "oh you can do two moves in a turn" -- can't you do that in ummm every other SRPG out there, only without any of the confusing explanation?

With Jeanne D'Arc coming out next week, I didn't even bother trying to understand it, I threw it in the Recycle Bin straight away.

If you love D&D and Stats though, this is right up your alley.

I adored the IWD games so this is right up my alley. I suspect a few magazine jockeys compared the title to NWN which was never that entrenched in the ruleset. I dont know the ruleset that well personally, but IWD games taught me enough to get by I think. I picked it up the other day but havent had the time to try it.
