Maf, did you watch Basilisk? It's the only anime that I've really watched in the last 2 years. I think there're about 20 episodes or so. Animation and story were very well done. Story is extremely sad though.
I also saw this Samurai anime on cable. I thought it was the one that you were just talking about, but it wasn't. I forgot what it was called but it's about some samurai that swapped bodies with his rival. You know what it's called?
