Well, I knew that! By the way, I don't know if it was you or MAF that tossed The Children of Men in that package, but it was great. Made the film adaptation seem like a dumb action movie in comparison.

Its a 'good' book, not a fantastic one, but I think reading that really shows what the fuk went wrong with the movie.

Its a shame I Am Legend is going to fall to the same fate. However in this case the rape of the book will be much more intentional

i dunno if i'd call children of men the movie "rape" although the plot/characterization was totally flimsy. it was a good movie even if it had a mild narrative deficiency.

Yea, I really enjoyed the movie, and I'm extremely glad that I saw it in theaters. It really doesn't try to adapt the book, other than the setting and major plot point. But adding more action allowed Cuaron to show off.

My main problem was how it clearly wanted to do its own thing but still borrowed a weird ass collection of characters and elements from the book and mashed them together with original elements and none of it really came together like it should have.

I need to watch the movie again. I just remember OMG THIS CONTINUOUS SHOT IS FUCKING INSANE. Still pissed it didn't win for Best Cinematography at the Oscars.
