WIRED Halo 3 Feature - Has me a tiny bit worried.
« on: August 20, 2007, 11:51:47 PM »
I hope this guy is balancing for easy mode:

"That enemy can kill a player in three shots," he says, "imagine your mother playing, where she's barely learning how to move around in the game-- bam, bam, bam-- dead. That's not going to be a fun experience."

PLEASE DONT PLAY BALANCE HALO 3 FOR PEOPLE WHO WILL NEVER PLAY IT! THE MOTHERS WHO LIKE HALO 3 DEMOGRAPHIC IS SO TINY! STOP NOW!

There's some other thing where some dumb lady apparently ran past grenades cause shes not paying attention so he's gonna work to make them easier to see but its EASY TO SEE THEM IN HALO 2! These people suck at games!

It wasn't easy to see in the dark in Halo 2.  WTF's up with having high tech armour but only having a $5 flashlight?

Agreed. The positioning of the lights on his shoulder should flood the room, not produce a focused beam.

Hyp: I think drinky and TVC will be up for it too. I mean Halo 3.

btw maf, i read that entire wired article.  it's pretty damn amazing that MS hired a fuckin' psychologist to run their halo 3 testing facility.  additionally, the analyzation of "choke points" in certain maps and player progression is amazing.  i really hope they put all that data to good use and give us a solid experience as opposed to dumbing it down for my mOmz.

it's funny cause Naughty Dog has been using the exact same psychological analysis testing and balancing since Crash Bandicoot

what did it exactly say the psychologist would do or suggest?  I remember Half-Life 2 had a psychologist to manipulate the faces of the characters so they look convincing.

for flashlights, in Halo 2 they made it so there wasn't any meter but if you used it in a sunny area, it would shut off after a few seconds but in dark areas there was no time limit.  also, it was attached to the gun which is why it would move when you reloaded.  in co-op, it looked like it was attached to your helmet though.
