Let's hold off on panning the game for being short before we see the final version.  The guy could just be playing on very easy mode like what Billy Rygar said about reviewers.  Also, they could have skipped cut-scenes which are important for a story-based game like HS.

I'm not surprised by am nintenho, but Patel & Groo&TVC, why are you guys hating on the game before even trying?  You know I don't pass up a chance to laugh at the PS3 but this game looks really nice and the gameplay should at least be somewhat fun, unlike Lair.   HS better be good, or else I'm gonna  :'( about buying the PS3 at launch. 

WTF, TVC?   You gave a semi-positive impression of HS.   You can't just flip flop on your impressions just to troll.  Only Prole gets to do that.

I did try it.  I played the demo, and if they released it, the devs must have thought it was at least fairly representative.

I even said in my first post that I went easy on it at GAF because I didn't want to start a war.  Since thinking about it (and realizing the devs would not release a non-representative demo, there's little reason to have faith.

Every review out there has said it's main problem is that it's too short.  for a game like this, difficulty can't make it significantly longer.  if it was R6 or something where you end up having to strategize more and take cover, I could understand it.

It basically seems like a good rental.  at least at first.  I highly doubt the cutscenes could make a big difference in gameplay time.

Patel, did you watch the HS anime videos on PSN?  They're really well done technically and do a great job of introducing HS's background.    Those videos are big reason why I got excited for HS.

maybe it's 6 hours on lowest difficulty and skipping all the cutscenes? most other reviews say 10-12 but this says half that so it could be wrong since he's reviewing it and wants it done in time. I guess we'd have to wait for more reviews.

well fuck them.  uncharted is being made by naughty dog.  it'll likely suck.  at least imo, I hated Jak games.

the second one was where they made it a GTA clone.  the platforming was good and the camera was great, but the GTA part sucked balls.

Uncharted looks really cool, actually. Ratchet should be good if you're into those games... LBP is the one I'm most curious about, because it looks amazing from those demos.

I actually do like short experiences. I just rent them instead of pay full price.

That said, the pacing issue is a concern, but at the same time, if you play it on the hardest difficulty, you probably won't beat it in six hours.

I do find it funny how GAF's gaming needs shift with the popularity of a title. If a popular game is short, they dont want lots of game anyway cause theyre so busy, if its long, thats awesome cause they hate short games. If its unpopular short games are crap 6 hours for 60 dollars OMG WTF, or if its long well..anything goes at that point.

As much as I love RPGs, I really don't have time for them anymore (doesn't stop me from buying them!). 5-10 hour games are right up my alley, since they still take me forever to get through.

Depends on the game for me.  I liked the length of Oblivion - I put over 120 hours in it and I'm still not finished.  But you can save anywhere and come back to it at any time, so the length really doesn't matter that much in regards to a "busy life" factor.  I liked the length of Bioshock - I just finished it on Easy last night, and I enjoyed the ride for the time I was on it.  I'll play it again at a more leisurely pace and a harder difficulty, to get the other ending.  I'm also looking forward to MOH: Airborne because of all the different ways you can approach the air drops, which adds to the replayability if the levels are short.

I like to pick at RPGs an hour or two a day. Im 16 hours into Luminous Arc, and ive just been kinda pickin at it. Course thats all ive been playing ;-)

meh, game length has never bugged me.  i was happy that gears of war ended when it did... i'm still picking up heavenly sword.  i love action games, and i think the chick looks like tera patrick (who got me through some rough times when i was single).  :heartbeat tera

I won't play a non-handheld RPG 1-2 hours a day, 'cause I like to set aside a chunk of my time to play... so I end up playing on Sat and Sun afternoons, at 3-4 hour stretches at a time.

Guess I shouldn't have doubted the EB experts.  I think I was trying to delude myself into thinking it was a must-buy just because I haven't bought any PS3 game in a loooong time.  And the anime videos were cool.  Guess this is just gonna be a rental.

When I bought Mario Strikers, I learned my lesson that it's not a good idea to buy a game just because you needed something to play on a system.  I don't mind a game being 6hrs if it's loaded with fun.  HL2:Episode 1 was awesome fun for 6 hrs albeit it was much cheaper than HS.  But it seems that even if HS has 12 -15 hrs of gameplay, it wouldn't be all that fun. 

My main problem from playing the demo was that the game seems to play you, more than the other way around.  You seem to watch the combos instead of performing them.  They look really cool but you don't feel any sense of acclompishment for doing it.  I was hoping that they would have fixed that feel since the demo was supposedly from a year ago but I guess I was hoping for too much.   :(

I want Uncharted to be good, but I'm a bit wary because the latter two Jak and Daxter games didn't do anything for me.  The actual levels in 2 were pretty good, but you had to spend so much time in that frickin city.  By the time 3 came around, I had already become a follower of Ratchet and Clank, so I was just all around uninterested in Jak 3.  Can't crit that one too hard because I only played it once.

Heavenly Sword is definitely a rental for me. The facial expressions are fucking great, but that's not the point.

Anyways, I'm betting Ratchet and Uncharted are going to be better anyways, and those are definitely on my PS3 purchase list...

as well as Unreal Tournament III for PS3, since my PC is shite.

that ign uk snippet is the first really disturbing thing i've read about the game. i really like the demo, but if much of the game is spent on novelties and minigame-type distractions...bleh
