Has everyone been busy playing Bioshock?

or what?  The forum has been so quiet the whole week.  I guess we're the anti-gaf like Maf said.  We play games instead of talking about them.

Yeah, I really want to buy a 360. but first, i'd have to buy an hdtv. it feels like a $1000 commitment.

right now, i have my ps2 connected to a USB TV capture card connected to my laptop.

You grind by playing matches over and over, and you get new classes and guns and stuff. Nothing really just made me care, it was just typical Deathmatch that we've played over and over.

Graphics weren't impressive to me either, nothing really wow'd me. I'm so glad they don't have multi achievements for this game. I'll still buy it.

Well I was pretty hooked on PSU beta to the point that I had persuaded myself to buy it (which I soon talked myself out of), and that gave no achievements.

I've been busy playing Tales of the World (just got the hunter and magic knight jobs, whoo) and Phoenix Wright 3.  I've been playing a lot more games since I started coming to Evilbore, I think the atmosphere here is really conducive to it - there's no system war bullshit and no "IF YOU DO NOT PLAY THIS, YOU ARE NOT A TRUE GAMER" type antics.  People just play what they want to play...as long as it's not the Wii, lawl.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I have.  I've played that game much more than anything I've played in the last few months and I'm still only halfway through.  It's taking me so long because I'm reloading different sections to experiment w/ different strategies.  And I'm also trying to find as much stuff as I can in the 1st playthrough.  Are you using a US 360 in Japan?

Is PD dead?

I think he's getting ready for school.  It starts soon for him.

No, my system is Japanese, but the game is region-free. :)  I didn't want to wait until September 14th for the Asian release (which is $40), so I paid the extra $20 to get the U.S. version now...

I finished the game earlier today. Best game to come out in half a decade or so, IMO-and I play a LOT of video games. I didn't run into any issues playing on the PC and the harder "hard" difficultly level and faster framerate on that platform were really nice.

Wait, hard mode on PC is harder than on the 360? I'm guessing that's to make up for the better keyboard+mouse setup?

Frag, did you play it on Xp or Vista?  I'm playing it w/a control pad on Vista.  I've tried it on XP which lets me turn on AA but the DX10 effects are nice enough to make it forgo AA.  I wish they would fix the FOV issue soon.  So far I've been playing in 1600x1200 instead of 1920x1200 because I see no point in going widescreen with such a narrow FOV.

Playing it on XP-I had planned to migrate to Vista before the game came out but ran out of time. Played with mouse and keyboard, and it was smooth as butter on my 8800GTS 640M/Core 2 Duo system. Then again, I did play at 1280x1024, as I have an older LCD monitor and am waiting for the next round of video cards before upgrading to a 22" widescreen.

I was running it on Vista, with 2 x C2D Xeons at 3.0ghz with that same videocard at 1680x1050, and it was running buttery smooth for me.

If you're one of the people that prefers heavy story, atmosphere and strong art/scenario design.......what makes Bioshock rate ahead of HL2?

Bioshock has way more story than HL2.  Plus the atmosphere (i.e. water) is much better.

I never said that I ranked Metroid Prime ahead of Bioshock.  I just said that a certain mechanic in Bioshock  (enemy respawns) reminded me of MP.  I'm too far removed from MP and not far enough into Bioshock to really give the two games a fair comparison.

Both games tell their story in a rather cumbersome, obvious, game-y way -- through player-initiated text/audio logs.  IMO, it doesn't really stack up to the more organic and immersive style of HL2's narrative.  I'm not much for the story/immersion aspect of any of these titles, but even if I was I would probably still give the nod to Valve for a much better realized world that draws you in through less obvious and contrived devices.
