Resident Evil 5 to be PS3-exclusive?

In the latest 1UP podcast, EGM's Shane Bettenhausen comments that based on rumors and speculation he's heard, that Resident Evil 5 could end up being exclusive to Sony's PlayStation 3, instead of coming out for both the aforementioned platform and the Xbox 360.

Also, Opa-Ages' Fishie had the following comments to say on the situation:

Urm.
Sony is lobbying for exclusivity of the game.
They are trying to negotiate a 5 high profile game deal with Capcom.
We shall know come TGS if they succeed.

Could Capcom be tempted to seal a deal of that kind since of the Xbox 360's abysmal sales in Japan?

yah it sells in NA pretty well, and even more than that in Europe... however I guess that the sales this game will garner in Japan _might_ be significant for Capcom to consider the twin development of RE5

RE5 is my most anticipated next gen game (not including Wii stuff). My plan was to get it on the 360 since it would save me the most money, but if this is true it looks like I'll be getting a PS3 much sooner than I anticipated.
