What's the perception of Australian people overseas?

I'd like to hear your thoughts on Australian people, whether you've actually met one or not

I don't view Australians as being really all that different from any other western dominantly Caucasian country. I have some relatives who are cane farmers up in Queensland. The closest actual town to them is Townsville. Stayed with them for five weeks back in the early 90's and had a great time.

I come from a cane farming town in Queensland too. But down in the south-east of the state.

All the aussies I've met are outgoing, gregarious, and noisy.

I dislike them immensely.

all the Australians I ever met in Japan were obnoxious, drunken louts who went out of their way to get into fights

except for the ozzie girl, who was just a boozy slut

Gaz is nice, tho. Yay Gaz!

Don't justify your racism with facts

you have annoying accents and come from a cultureless wasteland

an englishman spent a week in australia and wrote the only good australian novel

your most noteworthy cultural export is funny animals

no, you are not permitted to join in with europeans when they jeer at america -- they come from old and great civilizations. you come from australia.

but i also have this unfounded belief that australian girls are hot

I think we've established that Americans go to Japan are wimpy introverts that want to get laid and Australians that go to Japan are aggressive extroverts that want to get laid.

Gaz is the only Ozzie I've ever met and he was a pretty cool guy. I'll hopefully be paying a visit down there one of these days, so then I'll have better impressions to give!

Lazy, carefree, obnoxious, stoners.

This is mostly based on a roommate I had who was half Australian half something else (I want to say Thai but I forgot).
