If you didn't like EITHER of the two, I'd stear clear to be honest.  It's Metroid Prime...that's what you should be expecting, only with really good controls.

I'm sort of wondering if TVC will play through the whole game, as I hear there's some pretty stupid collectathon shit near the end again.

I hated the controls of the first two as well as the stupid scanning shit.  If both those are fixed i can see liking the game.

Well, from what I've experienced, the controls are much better and scanning is not always necessary (but it is encouraged).

The best advice I can give you is to at least try it out at your local Gamestop.  You have to do that annoying "lulz id for demo" exchange, but you can play it as long as you want.  Try it out.

Get it, Rygar.  I'm going to take a risk too.  But I still have to beat Bioshock first so I won't try MP3 until next week at the earliest.  It can't be a worst gamble than Mario Strikers which was fun for 10 mins.

I say go for it.  I'm a fair bit into it and I'm very happy with it. My main complaints from the previous 2 games have been solved, and even if the game is a bit easy so far, it's got well designed visuals and great music.

Cool.  i will pick it up.  I should be finished with Bioshock tonight after bingeing on it and Diablo 2 this weekend.

You can't really compare the two.  Despite what border would have you think, the games are absolutely nothing alike.  Comparing Bioshock to Metroid Prime 3 would be like comparing Merzbow to Sonic Youth:  there may be common points between the two, but they are entirely different beasts.

For the record, Bioshock is more my flavor, but that's probably because I'm an old skool LGS fanboy.
