Well okay, yeah, the fans pretty much make him awful. I'm not really thrilled on how Sega markets him nowadays though.

It'd be easy to say Mario in some cases, but for the most part Mario games are quite good still. So, Sonic for me still.

I bet you could write an essay on the use of balanced doppelgangers in games. Mario/luigi and Ryu/Ken the most obvious. They always make Mario and Luigi the balanced little bit of everything character in every spinoff title.

If we're going by fanbases, yeah Sonic's definitely up there. But the character himself? He's gradually gotten more XTREEME over the years, and not in a good way, so yeah, I suppose.

I would probably give the nod to Mario too, since his departure into 3D, Nintendo's made him too cutesy and saccharine.

I don't think Gordon Freeman is quite iconic enough to qualify as a gaming mascot.

Master Chief just might be the coolest, right now, even though he just looks like a futuristic BMX biker.

Absolutely. Never saw the appeal of this character or the games. But those old Playstation commercials with the guy in the Crash suit in front of Nintendo were great.

The first Bubsy game was kind of fun. It went downhill after that.
