Usually I pick one panel or event that sounds positively horrifying and go to it. Something on Harry Potter XXX fan fictions in the Young Adult programming track.....or tips for constructing furry costumes in the Costuming track.

This year selections are not so hot. Pick 1 for me:

There might be something worthwhile about discussing why animated homosexual sex is so alluring to female animu dorks, but I think the reason behind it is perhaps too dark and startling for actual fans of the material to address in a panel. I haven't read any of Wheel of Time, but interpretive dance is going to be pretty awful in any context I think.

The stuff that isn't lame is pretty fun. It's like a 4-day Halloween party with drinking that goes on until 4 in the morning. There's also concerts, panels with actors I enjoy, films, friends made at past cons, etc. Plus there's a number of things there that you can't see anywhere else (DangerWoman, Atlanta's mentally handicapped karaoke-singing superhero).

There is also a screening at the DGA theater in LA on september 27th for anyone that wants to come. I'll be at that one if anyone wants to meet me.

The hacking panels are a lot of fun, and they get a good assortment of people into security and cryptography. Usually it is more of a Q&A session than a "how-to" instructional event. The higher-level panels (Hacking 201, 301) are very social BYOB affairs with free pizaa, too.
