Latest Update

The Pokémon Trainer commands three types of Pokémon. His down special move is a Pokémon Change, so each Pokémon has three special moves!

That’s nine in all. Amazing!

Squirtle Up Special Move: Waterfall

Squirtle splashes up the water torrent.

Squirtle Side Special Move: Withdraw

Is this the turtle’s so-called shell? It slides along the ground.

Ivysaur Standard Special Move: Bullet Seed

It fires a rapid seed barrage straight up in the air!

Ivysaur Up Special Move: Vine Whip

It can grab the edge with its whip! That was TOO close!

Charizard Standard Special Move: Flamethrower

We just had to have this. It is Charizard, after all.

Charizard Side Special Move: Rock Smash

It smashes rocks with its head. Bam! A solid hit from this delivers a mighty blow!!

Supplement your shortcomings and take advantage of your strengths. You must co-operate to push on!

No, you play with the three Pokemon. That isn't Ash either. Just a random main character character from one of the Pokemon games.

So wait do you control the pokemon trainer or the pokemon? If it's just the pokemon, then why have the trainer?  There's already pokemon playable characters.

I think it's the point that you control all three of the starters (or their evolutions) so you play as the trainer who has the option to pick any three of them in the beginning of the Pokemon games.

I guess it's sort of pointless, but hey–three characters in one.

With the "My Music" feature, you can enjoy the music of our many musicians any way you like. Choose freely from our diverse selection of famous songs!

This is "My Music" in action!

The battle stages of Super Smash Bros. Brawl feature a diverse line-up of game worlds. For example, there are stages based on the Mario universe.

Basically, there is only one song that plays on each stage. But even among the myriad songs of the Mario universe, people probably have different favorites.

Plus, while there may be people who stepped into the Mario universe in the original Nintendo Entertainment System days, surely there are some who first experienced Mario on the Nintendo DS.
With that in mind, I think it’s a bit of a waste to limit that whole universe to just one song.

So we’ve prepared many songs and will let you choose the likelihood that any given song will be played.

This is "My Music" for Delfino Plaza.

For songs you’re particularly fond of, you can increase the likelihood those songs will appear. Then, when you brawl on that stage, the chance of your preferred songs being played increases.
Of course, if you want to, you can limit a stage to only one song, or make every song in the game equally likely to appear.

I’ve asked our reputable list of musicians to provide many songs for this particular game. But that’s certainly not because I just wanted to cover all these songs.

I’ve asked them to choose the songs that match their personalities and tastes!
Here you will find the best of the best—something you can very rarely get a chance to savor.
If your motivation behind your song selections is simply because you like them, then that’s just fine. Choose your settings as you like.

Just so you know, there may be songs from other games that are left as is, without any new arrangement.

Oh, and by the way, there’s an item in the game called a CD.

This is a CD.

Regardless of which mode you’re playing, if you see one of these, be absolutely sure to grab it. If you want to know why, it’s because CDs are the way you add to your music selection.

Such a cool feature needed its own thread

This is a fantastic update... I hope this doesn't mean they're gonna cut back on stages, though (like it'd be a shame if Delfino Plaza was the only Mario stage we see). And I hope they have some retro/chiptune stuff thrown in there.

i would be vaguely interested in pokemon regardless of the trapping simply because it is sold to me as an exercise in spreadsheet manipulation. however, i expressed a GREAT DEAL OF SHAME that i purchased it, and i also quickly returned it when i realized it wasn't as certain gaffers had sold it to me -- in fact, i made a pair of explosive gaf threads on the subject!

seriously, though, why would you play this game when you have vf5 or any other real fighting game out there? it's because deep down inside, you think LINK VERSUS KIRBY is AWESOME, and that makes you a nintot. the game is a child-oriented celebration of nintendo fanservice first and foremost, and that's what appeals to you. any depth discovered in the process of digesting all of this kiddy candy is because nintendo nostalgia and sanitzed mascot content hold such an appeal to you that you're willing to keep letting the game service your walleyed manchild gaming priorities again and again and again and again

Because the game is entirely without merit and there's absolutely no enjoyment to be derived from the game qua game. Any "enjoyment" you get from Smash Bros. is entirely due to pre-existing Nintendo fandom, and entirely not due to anything in the game itself.

This nerd hierarchy thing is pretty fuggin pathetic.

Just for fun, I'll ask why something like Marvel VS. Capcom (and not taking gameplay into account, simply the whole nostalgia/kiddy aspect) is fine to like? It works on the same principles.

But thats the thing, I find VF and the other "real" fighting games daunting because I never new anyone that played it growing up so I never played it either then, so coming into it, when people I know have had a character mastered from the 3rd one, it makes it unplayable.  Drinky your an oldfart  :P that grew up in the golden age of arcades where you could find competition, I didn't.   the only fighters that I know how to play are street fighter 2 (which I suck at) and Smash.  I don't like it because its a fan boys wet dream simulator I like it because it fun, which probably has something to due to the fact that I can actually play it.

Why do something new and original and fun when you can just put, I dunno, the ship from Guardian Legend in your game?

Actually, that would be hot. Who owns the rights? We totally need to make a DS game based on this.

I'm gonna make my first NWN2 mod a Guardian Legend total conversion. WHO'S WITH ME?!

I'm just saying what Oblivion said better in his last post.  You all spew this incredibly analyzed hate for certain games, but in all honestly no one should give a shit.

Billy Rygar, I love videogames.  How is that not evident?  I'm not poking fun at developers or anything–I'm poking fun at the elitist that goes on with this shit.  It's about as pathetic as anime elitism.

And that's perfectly fine, something I have no issues with. You, drinky and whoever is free to hate the game (or any game) however so you like. What I had the issue with was how it doesn't seem fathomable that anyone except nostalgia diehards would like something SSB.

It would be like me saying the only people that like GTA are sociopaths who only play it because it fulfills their dreams of always wanting to kill civilians and hookers...or something. (I'll think of a better example later...)

that's the problem: sans the mascot fetish shenanigans, it's a shallow fighting game. if you replaced every mascot in the game with generic ninja characters designed by a bad european dev house, this game would be excoriated, and the all-too-hilarious fanboys missives extolling its depth would go tragically unpenned

as for mvc: it's not a great game. but capcom makes a great fighting engine first, and THEN tacks on the fan service. sf2 was a great game that did NOT leverage any significant pre-existing ip. smash brothers is just a shitty polyglot fanfuck lacquered over the top of a sub-powerstone 4P spazathon that was developed not as a fighting engine first and foremost but as a vehicle to support said fanservice.

to be honest, i only play gta for sociopathic reasons. i like to cause virtual chaos, which is good for a couple hours of stupid fun. which is why i rarely discuss the gta games in a positive fashion and never buy them for more than $20.

I think most people that play fighting games realize that smash bros. is designed for 4 players and so the standards you apply to it for it's depth and art are completely different.

I.E: Everybody else plays it, so you play it.
