If you want to travel you would want to choose a line position. Those are the positions in a corporation that generate cash. Think marketing and sales. Don't go for human resources or support positions you will get stuck in middle management. In corporate American those who generate cash flow get rewarded handsomely. VPs are hired from sales and marketing and finance since experience in running a profitable division is crucial in the upper tiers. You have to like people and remember traveling for business is nothing like traveling for personal growth or recreation. You will see a lot of bland hotels and eat in bad restaurants.

Start reading Inc, Fast Company, Fortune, Forbes, WSJ and the Sunday New York Times and classic business books by Drucker, Peters, Covey, Abrahams. Learn from mentors, books, mistakes.
Join Toastmaster.
Join another networking group.
Be willing to pay your dues with long hours.
Build friendships at every job. Your colleagues could be your boss in a few years and vice versa.
I dropped out of corporate America myself. It is not for everyone. But if you take the advice above you will be ahead of most people.
Think in terms of 10 years not 1 or 2 when building a career.
