That's awesome.  Did you make it?  I wonder if anyone's already using it as an avatar at GAF.
Saw it on GAF. I don't know if anyone is using it as an avatar yet.

Not too long ago, I was trying to argue that Lair should have been 720p and 60fps from the start. I believe it was Onix who said something along the lines of "developers can barely get 30fps at 720p, so why should F5 bother?". I mean, what the fuck, so that's why they should go at 1080p then? :lol

Well, I didn't read that argument but most likely he was claiming that the game was CPU-limited and not GPU limited, even at 1080p.  He's probably pulling info out of his ass but if what he said were true, then running at 1080p would have no impact on performance.

I don't see how they're wouldn't have been a sacrifice at 1080p. Prole knows about this sort of thing better, so maybe he can shed some light.

What IGN says doesnt matter - but its clear this game isnt for everyone...I beat the part he bitches about in the IGN review on the first try. I have no problems with the controls or the locking on its all very enjoyable for me.

I hate to fall into what you expected but I just think he sucks...its like reviewers dissing the zen that was Gun Valk by Smilebit/SEGA because they couldnt handle the controls.

If you arent a spazz, Lair is a symphony of flying...

More things I have done and liked;

dragon to dragon hand to hand combat - these scenes look amazing

the "takedown" move, which consists of shooting a grapling hook to snother dragon, sliding over, kicking the rider off and then returning to your dragon - you gotta use it to quickly take ut the black dragons in the part the reviewer couldnt pass.....FURTHER he didnt even get past the first part of the game really opening up and geting climactic...

Im sorry, but IGNs review is full of faggory - is like Gun V all over again.

"like gun valkyrie, only not fun"

no haha not exactly that either...see Gun V while awesome to me was hard on the soft soft hands of the non arcade stick veteran...

LAIR is more hard on your arm and hand muscles - BUT not nearly as punishing as the "shave the carrot" minigame in Cooking Mama.

LAIR in pleanty fun if you can handle the controls, just as Gun V when you knew how to play it properly and would float thru entire stages not touching the ground...or like when you get good at Jet Set Radio....its just new kind of gaming kix and its like learning a dpad or an analog stick all over again...

So again I say - if yer not a spazz, LAIR is a symphony of flying accuracy...problem is with some much going on people spazz and overcompensate on the controls - just like an analog stick noob.

Like my girlfriend tried it earlier and she hated it - she sounded just like the IGN review...then again she cant even play an FPS - watching her try to aim/move on seperate AXIS will make you lose your lunch....

it certainly wasn't anything as awful as lair's jankiness. i had no problem with excitetruck's waggle balancing act, either.

Well I had no problems with LAIR and I learned SIXAXIS on Super Rub a Dub and FL0W sessions.

You have a PS3, add me up and try to topple my Super Rub a Dub scores!

I'm not a fan of gimmicky shit, but Folklore makes use of the sixaxis nicely.

IF you were good at rub a dub than you got what it takes for this.

Remember its like yer riding the dragon, the SIXAXIS is like the reign you are holding...

after playing this more lastnight and this AM - my final score is around 7.8

The game does need SHOCKAXIS support...I can imagine the badass rumbles when yer shooting sprays of flame.

played more tonight in between Warhawk sessions.

Still loving the game...

If you go back to the darklands area, there are like 12 different training courses you can practice with. 4 flying/dashing courses, 4 air combat courses and 4 ground combat courses....

You can always get a refresher on the moves and I have gotten much better at the game practicing and getting better and better at the dragon flying.

I watched my friend play tonight and it seems that people have the biggest problem with the fact that the dragon doesnt fly in a straight line, but instead bobs up and down as the wings flap...its a dragon, not an F14 tomcat.

I find that the best way to take down objective enemies is to lock onto youyr target, and then press circle or triangle to zoom right up and takedown, crash into or melee fight in the air...only use the fireballs, flame spray for crowds of ice dragons, stationary targets, strafing ground troops or the enemy ships. you cant just spam all of your enemies with the fireball - MANY are immune and need you to melee them or take out the rider.

I have also noticed when other play that there is so much going on they cant handle everything at once....the flying, the shooting/meelee, switching tactics for different enemies.....its really one of those games that takes you beyond the normal level of multitasking in games...it uses every single button and and the extra dimension of the tilt control management.....not even Wii taxes you this hard in a multitasking sense...not nearly as many buttons...

Another thing I love doing is grabbing an enemy soldier from the crowds with my claw as i swoop down, and then feeding in mid air ;)

so the full control scheme is...

SIXAXIS tilt/thrust/flip - fly the dragon

L1/R1 - change target lock

L2/R2 - left and right talon/brakes

triangle - takedown

square - fireballs (press rapid) flame breath (hold button) (use the right or left stick while in flame breath mode to aim it - like if hovering over a crowd of enemies you use the stick to sweep the crowd with the flame stream)

circle - strike (like after you lock on, press this button to quickly fly up to the locked enemy for some CQC)

control pad - rage vision

l/r sticks - camera flame breath control

its cool to fly in one direction and look aim in another....

when you are learning how to manage it all and play the game right you will fuck up alot...you really have to practice at this to get good and get the good medals (silver and up)

I can understand why its too hard for many and frustrates them - but I still think the reviews and the trolling are out of control.

I still from time to time try to use the sticks to move out of instinct because the action just becomes too much....the game shows some text on the screen to remind me to stop being a stunned dumbass and use the tilt to fly the dragon and the sticks to look....
