Seriously, if the best complaints that people can come up with (and I'm talking about legitimate ones, none of this 'bu bu bu too many dungeons hurt my feelings  :'( ' crap that more than a few people have spewed in the past) are graphical issues and Hyrule Field not having a few extra enemies, well then it's quite the testament to OoT's immaculate design, isn't it?

That's why I think instead of making an all new Zelda, Nintendo should just re-make OoT and fix those one or two little issues. For 2 reasons:

1. Come on, even Nintendo wouldn't be able to mess up some simple instructions like these.
2. At least those incompetent apes Nintendo has doing the Zelda music nowadays can't fuck up completely since they don't need to change the compositions, just remix/rearrange it.

If the game was done on something like the 360 (:drool) even the most jaded of you fegs wouldn't have a leg to stand on. :punch

bs. the legitimate complaints outside of the awful frame rate and crappy midi instrumentation transcend hardware.

1) hyrule field is a circular justification for epona and vice versa. it is obnoxious and an utterly boring waste of space.
2) the water dungeon forces obscene amounts of menu-driven item swapping to navigate
3) the volvagia battle is ugly and stupid and easy and bad

that nets it an 8/10 in my book

2. They could map the boots the way they did in TP (though I don't know why they didn't do that)
3. This is the first complaint I've heard about the Volvagia battle. I got killed a lot when I first tried.  :-[

What is this, you lambast OoT for a few minor things (which even if you're right on the last 2 points, they still don't get in the way of the overall game), and MM, possibly the most anti Zelda of them all is being praised?! Wtf mate?  :'(

What exactly does it do far better than OoT actually?

Dungeons? Nope.
Music? Nope.
Graphics? Textures were somewhat better, but framerate was even worse, so nope.
Story? I'm pretty sure you don't give a damn about story in Zeldas, so that's a nope.

The only legitimate thing it does better is mini games...but doesn't that go against all the Wii hatred?

frame rate was better, dungeons were better (stone tower :bow), and it had a severe, controlled focus unlike oot, which ambled at times -- and yes, it had a vastly more engaging  polyglot story

You're telling me Stone Tower isn't cool?

You telling me you care more about Zelda than the moon crashing down and annihilating the entire world?

Zuh? I hear a lot of people complaining about MM being FAR worse in this aspect. Which version did you play?

One (albeit kickass) dungeon does not a good Zelda make.

Stone Tower rocks, and the plot was interesting, HOWEVER I think the execution was lacking.

MM is way more focused. OoT is just a bunch of dumb shit Miyamoto's interns made up and strung together like so much spaghetti universe. MM is a COMPLETE WORLD. The gameplay delivers, better dungeons, OCD scheduling...wait, how come you like Majora's but not Persona 3??

I guess I should mention that probably my most irritating issue about the game was the save system.

MM is way more focused. OoT is just a bunch of dumb shit Miyamoto's interns made up and strung together like so much spaghetti universe. MM is a COMPLETE WORLD.

Okay, fine I'll play along even though I'm sure some of you could care less about the story.

MM is way more focused? Okay, fine. But I suppose that comes with being a much smaller game, it's kinda hard to trail off or whatever.

I suppose we'll differ with which one is more of a COMPLETE WORLD as well, considering OoT has more locales, and does a pretty good job of keeping everything connected (So I don't know where this sphagetti universe malarky is coming from).

Sort of like with TP, MM's ending is wholly unsatisfying because 1) the boss battle with Majora is pretty easy and 2) His constant moonwalking was rather irritating and felt out of place IMO, of course.

better dungeons

And once more, it has ONE dungeon that's arguably better than all of OoT's, but the others are pretty meh.

I've played them all except Twilight Princess and those CD-i ones (for technicality's sake)

I'd go

Majora's Mask -> GBC -> Link's Awakening -> GBA -> Wind Waker -> Ocarina of Time -> Zelda -> Adventure of Link

Am I missing any?

I LOVED Majora's scenario, and it was pretty dark considering Nintendo's general stance on that stuff at the time. Some of the scenes in that game are very interesting, and fuck the dungeons, MM's meat is in the side quests, which are all way more fulfilling and intriguing.

The time system was really...uh, ahead of its time I guess. Nintendo has yet to put that kind of a sense of urgency back into a Zelda.

No, it wasn't ahead of it's time, it was just stupid. Took away the whole aspect of exploring the overworld on your own time.

Anyway, judging by some of the responses here, it seems you guys would love MM's more refined incarnation, without the whole dungeon bs to clutter up the fun...
