I must have played too many dumbed down console RPGS in the last few years because the depth in NWN2 seems a little overwhelming.  I want to make my main guy a fighter but I'm not sure of what I should do.  Which is the best fighting class and what are the best skills?  The Paladin looked interesting because of the Holy Avenger ability but is it as beneficial as the weapon specialization that fighters get to have?

The best fighter class is the figther, at least to start. Pick a weapon and max out the skills for it.

Get a nice two hander, get 8 levels in fighter, 10 in frenzy berseker, and the rest in the NWN9 prestiege class. Cleave and Power Attack (and their upgrades) will do some huge DPS, and you can compensate for the lack of shield with castable buffs if you want to be able to tank decently.
