62-year-old Tochigi man beats mother, 89, for not eating breakfastASHIKAGA — A 62-year-old man was arrested for beating up his 89-year-old mother for leaving her breakfast unfinished in Ashikaga, Tochigi Prefecture, police said Friday. The man, identified as Tomiji Yamanaka, unemployed, allegedly hit his mother after she didn't finish her breakfast on Aug 25. A caregiver, who visited their house on Thursday, noticed injuries to the woman's head and contacted police. The mother, who was taken to hospital, is suffering from subarachnoid bleeding, officials said. Police suspect Yamanaka may have abused his mother on a daily basis.
