Civ4 is truly one of the best games in the modern PC gaming era. Being able to take a series that was around ten years old and breathing in as much new life into as they did=awesome.

I just IM'd Drinky that it makes me want to upgrade my PC so I can become a PC gamer once more, using my Xbox 360 only for the Halo and CoD4's of the world!

I mean, what if I played REAL games like World in Conflict, Company of Heroes, Crysis, etc.

one great thing about an decent gaming PC is that it is almost like having a 360 Ulitmate Awesome Edition if they made one

and world in conflict is truly godly. I can't hype this game enough.

edit: Company of Heroes will make you like WW2 games again if you are burned out on them. People wouldn't be complaining about the setting if they played less MOH and earlier COD and more Company of Heroes, Combat Mission, Hearts of Iron 2, or IL-2.

You are making me sad - I want to upgrade my PC now, but I am dirty poor still (at least for another month).  World in Conflict will have to wait!

COD4 is on PC.  Likely with servers and euros.

I was going to say that. If it weren't for Rock Band...I'm really not sure I would've bought a 360.

Hey Willco, if you're going to get a PC, just get TF2 for it, please. Don't keep annoying me with "GET TF2 FOR 360 so we can play together!" bullshit. It's going to fucking suck on a console.

Yeah, but everyone I know is getting it for the 360 - so PC loses out there.  I don't like playing with bearded strangers as they use TeamSpeak into their expensive Logitech headsets with the clean hum of their $3,000 PC in the background!

I mean, although I'm getting The Orange Box for the 360, I'll eventually nab TF2 for the PC.  The 360 community will eventually die out in 24 months or so, but TF2 will hopefully have a TFC-type shelf life on PC.

If all your friends are getting the 360 or (lol) PS3 version, you'd be a fool not to get that one. Playing with friends is awesome and makes up for the chumptastic controls.

so is the only reason you're getting orange box for 360 to play team fortress for a while with console owners?  I mean it's obviously going to be on steam.

The fucking minimum requirements for TF2 are higher than they are for CS:S and DOD:S...

I might be shit out of luck with my current laptop.  :'(

Duh!

My brother is getting it, my two best buddies are getting it, co-workers are getting it and folks here that I play with are getting it.  It's going to be awesome.

I personally think it'll play fine on the 360 pad.  Yes, we all know keyboard and mouse is superior, but the Halo setup has made FPS controls bearable on consoles.

I just think TF is way too fast for dual-analog...at least after watching that painful gameplay video.

It probably would be TOO fast if we were playing PC users, but since everyone will be using dual analog, it will work out.  The playing field is level.

You do have a point there. So everyone will equally suck at it. Hopefully. My buddy who's probably going to buy a 360 wants to get that 3rd party keyboard+mouse adapter and just own people.

I might try PC gaming - if only Drinkey Crow would quit trolling it.

But then I would have to run a machine with Windows on it :(

Its not high on my priority list - i settle for the watered down console brothers of PC greats.

It's really watered down sometimes.  You still play Marvel:Ultimate Alliance on the PS3, right?  On the PS3, there's plently of slowdown even at 720p.  On my 8800GTX, M:UA runs at 1080P with 4x aa and a steady 60fps.  Also, the textures are way better on a PC since the PS3's 256mb vram is considerably lower than most videocards.

The choice of operating systems shouldn't be a big deal for you if you buy a newer Core 2 Duo Mac.  I think TVC installed 3 different OSes on his mac.

Vista is an awesome OS.  It's been unfairly panned by the critics.  I don't get those people that hate it.  They claim that Windows isn't as user friendly for the mainstream as MACs. Then when Vista becomes more user-friendly for computing noobs, they claim that there's not enough control.

You should give Vista a try.  The interface is beautiful and even the 64bit version is really stable.

I really havent used Windows since 2kpro

I got a bunch of servers running Windws server 2K3, but I rarely access them and they arent my personal property or anything.

I dont know what to think of Vista - im kind of jaded I guess...years of failure from Windows had it pretty far out of my mind.
