Is Star Wars:Empire at War any good?

The Gold pack is only 24.99 at Best Buy this week.  awesome deal if the game is any good.  Is it like AOE but with 3d graphics and a Star Wars setting?  I loved AOE.

I also say yes, and I know RTS. The expansion helps relieve the doldrums of the ground combat some, though the space battles are still where the game shines the best.

Interface and wtf-how-does-that-work problems are still in the game (and slightly magnified somewhat due to the weird way the new faction in that expansion works).

Great game though. Also, I'd like to say that Petrglyph's next game looks really, really good and it's almost criminal that no one on the internet really cares about it. :(

Cool.  I'll use my $10 Best Buy rewards on it.  People always bitch about the costs of PC gaming but in the long run, it's much cheaper than console gaming because 1 yr old games cost $30 instead of $60.

Frag, do they have Jedis or any special characters in this game, like Warcraft heroes?  What's Petglyph's next game?

TONS of heroes. It's a star wars nergasm:

I'd also like to say that the game never really felt like AOE, so don't go in expecting that. It's still really good though and well worth the $25 for the game+expansion.

Boba Fett is in there.  Cool.  I want to kill that guy again and again.

I always play empire unless I am playing an expansion game.

I just reinstalled both thanks to this thread. I've played nothing but CoH all weekend and this should make for a good break from that.

COH is awesome but it's too cerebral on days that you don't want to think.  So you can kill the heroes/villians in Empire, right?
