Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
« on: September 10, 2007, 12:01:52 AM »
Yep, thats the title. lol

It also confirms the crystal skull storyline rumor pretty much. Which is Indiana Jones is racing the communists to find the 12 crystal skulls (of aliens who came here and built the pyramids and shit) that are hidden around the world which unlocks a secret power which the commies want to use to defeat the west.

lolololol

I wish they would have kept it mystical instead of aliens; I always feel like it's to much when they mix both of them.  Just stick to one vehicle to explain unexplainable stuff.

Lucas REALLY wanted the alien idea, it was all his.  Well he said in a interview that Da Vinci Code stole his original idea apparently.

His original idea was to be about the holy grail...again?

He said it in total film a few months back he sounded kind of sarcastic but it's print so you never know.  :lol

Oh and the uh good thing is I guess you get THREE MORE (4 including uh "crystal skull") indiana jones films after this one lol. Ford is signed on for 3 and Shia for 4. Have fun kiddies.

I do wonder if Spielberg will direct all of them or hand them off.

Yep. It's obvious they are setting up to keep this franchise going...and going. No more indiana jones trilogy.

And if it wasn't real enough Lucasfilm sent this over to Spielbergfilm.com:

Da Vinci Code wasn't about the holy grail, wtf?  :lol

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Da_Vinci_Code

Plot summary

The novel has several concurrent storylines that follow different characters throughout different parts of the book. Eventually all the storylines and characters are brought together and resolved in its denouement. The unraveling of the mystery requires the solution to a series of brain-teasers, including anagrams and number puzzles. The solution itself is found to be intimately connected with the possible location of the Holy Grail and to a mysterious society called the Priory of Sion, as well as to the Knights Templar. The story also involves the Roman Catholic organization Opus Dei.

The whole book revolved around the secret of the holy grail.

I wouldn't have minded them keeping the franchise going if there hand't been like an 18-year-gap between Last Crusade and Crystal Skull.  As it is, Ford looks...really really old...and cranky.

Arvie, the holy grail in Da Vinci Code has absolutely nothing in common with the Holy Grail in the Last Crusade.  They don't even call it holy grail in that shitty book, they call it SANGREAL so as to make its true meaning more apparent. You said "His idea was to be about the holy grail..again?" The Da Vinci code isn't about some magic goblet, it's about Jesus's possible descendants.  Don't be obtuse.

That wasn't the intention. Lucas/Spielberg were talking about doing Indy IV early as 1992 just 3 years after crusade. It just kept getting delayed and delayed and delayed.

That's exactly my point.  The delays were mostly Lucas's fault, IIRC.

He didn't like the scripts lol. He wouldn't do it unless he loved the script.

Be glad though, the one written before the one that got green light was WRITTEN BY THE WRITER OF RUSH HOUR 2 and 3!  :-\

Harrison Ford apparently adlibs like a mother fucker so unless he grew too lazy to do that I am not worried about Indy's dialog.

Solo's best lines from the original trilogy were ad-libbed by Ford.  The sword/gun duel in Raiders was ad-libbed by Ford.  Harrison Ford used to rock before he got old and cranky.

The whole plot is ripped off from Holy Blood Holy Grail.  It may not explicitly call it that, but it is talking about the grail as defined in that book.

My point is that Holy Grail in The Last Crusade and Holy Grail/Sangreal in Da Vinci Code are not comparable.  There is no magical goblet-style Holy Grail in Da Vinci Code.  Hell, I'd even forgotten that the sangreal was referred to as the holy grail in that shitty novel, that's how unimportant it is.
