Third HD disk player enters market: plays 10 layer (40 GB) DVDs

So, what exactly is the Versatile Multilayer Disc? Instead of using a new, shorter wavelength laser like HD DVD or Blu-ray Disc, the VMD uses the same red laser of the DVD format but puts more layers in the same size and thickness of a DVD disc.

This war might last longer.  Basically it costs about $150-$200 and can play 1080P content.  I'd imagine the price of the disks is about the same as other HD disks.  So far the only disadvantage it has that I can think of is lack studio support, but all HD disks seem to have that problem...

Don't blame me that it's hilarious that people buy a movie five times and bitch about it.

Im not sure if its an issue of format so much as its an issue of timing. Im not quite sure people are convinced its time to move on just yet.

eh, I think it's format and also exposure.  I don't see many commercials or anything for the formats.  Most people I know don't understand the difference between blu ray, hd dvd and dvd.

however, after I show them hd dvd on my tv, most of them are convinced.

I mean in most dvd commercials, they mention there's another format available but there's no active marketing saying to upgrade to HD disk players.

The layer transitions will be fucking distinguished mentally-challenged.

Ten two second pauses.... how about no.

they may have a way of streaming ahead to avoid that.
