Mods, maybe that other "DLC IS OVAR" thread can be joined into this one?

I will probably end up buying new plastic instruments for my eventual PS4 purchase, and live without my DLC.

I don't think me and my brothers bought much DLC for the 360 rockbands, otherwise I'd definitely get an X1. Now probably just grab a PS4 sometime in the future

I got rid of pretty much all the plastic stuff except one guitar and a mic but I have rock band 1, 2, 3, and beatles (?) tied to my xbox.  depending on the tracks and cost of whatever is in 4, I might considering it with a guitar.  then again I don't know how many opportunities there will be to play rock band like it was 6 or 7 years ago.  even when rock band 3 came out it was drying up.

The Beatles RB won't do anything for XBone / PS4, there's no game or DLC to worry about this generation.

Just received a mailer from Harmonix; there's a party in Los Angeles, charging $5 to play RB4 with Harmonix staff. I can't tell if this is genius or desperation.

Moreover, since I'm on PS4 this generation, I'm wondering if there will be any way to get my DLC from 360 onto it. Theoretically it's all just licenses which could be tracked on their server, but realistically I'm pretty sure I'm screwed.

Yeah.

A survey the other day seemed to be asking if people thought it was important for their older instruments to work with Rock Band 4. I'm no scientist, but I don't think the older wireless units even share the same protocol on newer consoles. I could see having USB controllers work... but wireless is crazy talk.

Sounds like the wireless stuff will work with Rock Band 4. Looks like I'll need a new drum kit.

Harmonix said the other day there would be a wireless dongle for Xbone that will be compatible with not just the Rock Band instruments, but Guitar Hero as well. Just unknown if it's a Harmonix or MS peripheral as a bunch of devs like the Project CARS devs were hinting they would have comparability with old wheels on Xbone soon as well.

PS4 is straight up plug and play but you are fucked on some of the Guitar Hero peripherals.

Verrey is quick to point out, though, that the only way to guarantee you'll get a plastic drum set when the game launches for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Oct. 4 is by pre-ordering the game. He's almost apologetic. He says he knows gamers are rightly skeptical of preorder come-ons, and he understands why people would choose not to. But these instruments are costly to manufacture, and the best way for Mad Catz to figure out how many to make is to look at pre-orders.

They're pricey, though. The game, a guitar controller, a drum controller and a microphone will set you back $249.99. That's nearly as much as the consoles you'll play them on.

Who else picked up Rock Band 4? Chrono, you have a copy heading to Osaka?

Played two songs last night. It's pretty much Rock Band. And that makes me happy.

I need to buy an Xbox One first. Hopefully there will be a Black Friday deal, if not I might just pick up the Tomb Raid Xbone.

I am elated that I can use my old PS3 instruments with Rock Band 4. Otherwise I wouldn't have purchased it.

I went PS4 for this generation, so my 360 instruments won't work. Nor will my DLC. So I'll be purchasing once I get an XBOne sometime next year.  :'(

There's a new option in RB4 called Play a Show. You can start off by choosing a set list, but later on it lets you choose to continue by voting for certain songs, a genre, end the show, play a fan request encore, etc. Everyone actively playing gets a vote. Cool idea.
