Here's my current situation:

I'll have the RAM soon so that's not a problem. Once that's fixed I'll be able to run the game. The graphics card is below the max requirement of course but meh, that's ok. If it looks good for Cajole it should look good-er for me

Test your system bud!

''comparing your display card generic vga with the requirement vga geforce 3

your displaycard fails the following requirements:
- pixel shader 1.1, you have n/a
- 128mb memory, you have 1bm''

 :-\

i just checked the specs for the videocard that's in my macbook:

Graphics and video support
Intel GMA 950 graphics processor with 64MB of DDR2 SDRAM shared with main memory3
Extended desktop and video mirroring: Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 1920 by 1200 pixels on an external display, both at millions of colors
Built-in iSight camera
Mini-DVI port
DVI output using mini-DVI to DVI adapter (sold separately)
VGA output using mini-DVI to VGA adapter (sold separately)
Composite and S-video output using mini-DVI to video adapter (sold separately)

omg, that can't be good :-\ :'(

that program told me it couldn't get a full read of my computer or something. i'm using parallel so maybe it's because of that?

The Intel GMA is not meant for gaming.

Dammit beaten. Trust me I tried to play DoW when it first came out on a Intel GMA 950, yeah that didn't happen.

so does that mean i have to play it on the lowest settings then?

i'd rather get the 360 version if that's the case. i can take medium, but damn, playing it on the lowest setting would make it look pretty ugly and i wanna see that sexy lighting on my screen. :'(

I'm still thinking of getting it on the 360 because it's not quite as fast as I thought it would be, and my laptop IS a piece of shit. It just happens to be able to run it...barely. And it seems a good amount of fellow 360-owning forumgoers are getting it.

Seems like it looks the same as gameplay videos for me except I have shadows and HDR turned off. I don't think the explosions/heavy weapons guy gunfire looks the same, though. I'm running it on medium settings.

1. I'm running it on a laptop but my card is an  Nvidia GeForce Go 7300. I haven't taken any pics yet.

2. I'm not really sure how the game's point system works. I've heard its based on your kills/assists/captures, but all I really do is play as a medic and run around healing heavy weapons guys while they mow everyone down.

This is good.  I was beginning to think everyone was bailing on the 360 version.

I'll also be getting the 360 version.

If the 360 achievements are the same as the PC ones then some will take awhile. There's a lot of team based ones.

I forgot to take pictures when I played today. :(

Still loving this game, though. I played as the engineer for most of the day today and I love the little war you have with spies as an engy. They try to sap your stuff so you knock the saps off and start shooting teammates to see which one is the spy. So fun.

I have a laptop, I'm not sure how that goes. I don't think I can. I might buy a 512 MB/1 GB stick of RAM to hold me over until I build a PC.

and Bloodwake, I haven't touched Bioshock in two weeks due to COD4, Puzzle Fighter and now this. And Halo 3 comes soon.

Just got done with a long play session...

There are not many things more satisfying than shooting a Heavy in the face.

Edit: I love the stat tracking. I was able to see that I my kill streak was 16 (all headshots) with 33 points and 3,725 damage dealt. :D

I mentioned in the GAF thread about how much I love the stat tracking and the scoreboard.  Games that don't include that sort of thing are going to seem archaic after playing this for awhile.

What I'm really interested in is hearing from TFC veterans about how the classes differ in this iteration.  I don't mean just technical differences (weaponry, abilities, etc), but more of how the classes were altered to support the team.  The big one that I know of is Medic, which has gone from being a front line base-rushing machine to a strict support class.  Can I still run into the enemy's base with an Engineer even though they no longer have those explosive detonation grenades?  Does the Demoman still have some offensive usage even though pipebombs are sticky now?  That sort of thing.

God damn, I bow to you sir. I like sniping, but I get frustrated being spy fodder.

I have screen shots too! Game is so pretty. Sorry the bottom pics are full res, and I am too lazy to resize.

Man, I wish my game looked like that.

And Ellrick, I racked up those kills while defending the last point in Dustbowl. I was pretty much even up until then, and finished up the map with a 50-3 streak or so.

I got a 27 person kill streak on dustbowl as an engineer. There's a spot near one of the last cap point in the cross the bridge after you round a corner that's just nuts for racking up kills, and spies stick out like a sore thumb in that area.

I think it's weird that my least favorite map in TF2 is actually 2Fort.  :o . It's still very enjoyable, but not quite as good (IMO) as the other maps.

I still love 2fort most, because the scout is my favorite class and he is built for it. I mean, they capture control points 2x as fast, but you still gotta defend them standing still. All the maps are really well designed, and fun, but other than 2fort I gotta say the well is my favorite.

I am beginning to hate engineers, everyone and their mom plays them it seems, people have to bitch over the mic in order to get them to switch to be more helpful. Plus good sentry gun placement is such a bitch to counter, I played an engineer for a couple rounds just to get a feel for it, and I ended up breaking all my records without trying.

To be a high scoring engineer is usually to be very bored during a game. I'd rather play Medic or Demoman.

What, you dont enjoy constantly turning around and shooting your own team fun? Actually I say that as a joke, but I did have a long duel with a really good spy while I was an engineer that pissed me off and kept me playing one longer than I expected. Just to get revenge.

That nemesis/revenge system honestly drives me up the wall, it keeps me playing into the wee hours. I can taste their satisfaction when they get that back stab in.

..

That sounded pretty gay.

I mean that I still like 2fort the best because the scout is my favorite class, and he has a distinct advantage in capture the flag game play (well now its capture the intelligence). As opposed to control points, which he captures 2x as fast, but cant really defend alone while the capture is going on, thus negating the speed advantage.

My fault, I didnt really make that clear on account of my being distinguished mentally-challenged.
