kids is still one of my favorite movies. it has some of the most raw moments ever captured on film, and some of the most quotable lines of dialogue ever.

Kids isn't that bad. It's definitely a movie that people interested in movies have to see. It's an exercise in transgression by people that aren't experts in the art, and it alternatively comes across as amateurish (not in the "realistic" sense of the word, either) and kind of preachy. It's really closer to, say, Reefer Madness than it is to cinema verite, despite what the creators had in mind.
