What kind of music do you like then, Mondain?
Simple Plan is music aimed at teenage girls, it's radio friendly, and they make tons of easy money while banging groupies while you furiously type away about them on a obscure internet forum. I don't think they try to pretend that their music is deep. And Simple Plan is punk rock, and no emo. I have no idea how can someone even hint at simple plan being emo music.
to tell that something is emo is probably the most commonly used diss on forums nowadays, it just serves any purpose to describe anything... anyhow, that seems fitting nonetheless because their airs are extremely easy to listen to and non-offensive, and their lyrics concern matters that young boys go through (social acceptance, parental problems, petty relationships and whatnot), hence I guess the stereotype comes easily whether it is legit or not
yes I guess you're right when saying that it's aimed at female teens, seeing as I constantly see the band members prominently featured on the covers of all kinds of teen magazines... and punk-rock? still don't make me laugh, concerning that well a part of my original post is right-- they're like a boys band that make music from punk-rock bands like Sum41 looks as hardcore as that of hard punk bands like Rancid's
and I don't like their influence and prefabricated success because such bands simply seem to dilute the exposure of whatever is left in creativity and originality on public airwaves, you now have to seek some very obscure artists to enjoy something truly good out of all the poseurs... don't know if we'll ever see hugely popular albums purely made out of classic songs that you can listen to back to back without feeling that it's nothing but fillers
radio is utter crap, modern records have been for years, I gave a chance to many recent popular albums deemed as excellent but it all feels so mediocre and uninspired... I can pretty much only bear videogame music now, along with a few classic real tunes here and there
