I think I'm going to just get the 8600 instead of waiting for the 8800's price to drop. I'm not an avid PC gamer who needs the best of the best, and I figure the 8600 will keep me preoccupied for a good deal of time while beautifully running all the games I want - HL2: Orange Box, Quake Wars, and StarCraft II. Since I'm busy with school I won't have time to keep up with every new PC release anyway, and I bet the Orange Box alone will keep my gaming life busy until SCII arrives.

I know little about this stuff, so which version of the 8600 is best? I'm willing to spend around $200. My computer has a PCI Express (PCIe x16) slot available so the card will snap in.
What do I need to know about this card (and other possible cards), and what advice do you guys have? Keep in mind that my understanding of this issue is worse than my understanding of evolution, grammar, and politics combined. SO GO SLOW PLZ
