This is why I want a PSP: I like Japafag JRPGs. I'll also have a lot more transit downtime once it starts to get cold and I can't ride my bike to work everyday. I have a DS and I like it, but the lack of JPRG turn based sillyness is turning me off.
Like others have said, PSP is pretty light on JRPGs (in English, that is). But there are plenty of other great games available.
Why else would I want a PSP? I've heard a lot about homebrew and hacking, but what's the point?
It not only makes your PSP run more efficiently with more brightntess options, speed options (333mhz!), and memory stick loading, but you also get access to a HUGE amount of applications of various types, homebrew games, ports of older PC titles, and awesome emulation, not to mention being able to play almost every PSX game out there.
If you have a PSP that isn't hacked, it's like you have a neutered system.
And is it worth the extra 70 bucks for a Light? A used PSP runs 129$ at Gamestop and that's a sweet price, but not if it's worth the extra investment. Is there TV out on the old PSP? Explain me. FAQ me, dudes.
No TV out on the old PSP, but some people did get an output working to PCs using a homebrew app. It doesn't work very well though.
It is absolutely worth the extra cash for the new slim PSPs. The controls are better, the load times can be faster (it now uses a cache), it's lighter, the screen is better (more vibrant and a bit less ghosting), and of course there's TV out. You can hack the Slim PSPs too, but you do need the Pandora Battery for that, which can only be created using an older hacked PSP at the moment.
can you use tv out with psx games?
Yes, you can use TV out with anything. Just remember that you NEED component cables/480p on your TV for it to work with games.
