Stuck in Star Ocean SNES

Tiesto, I think you said you wrote a FAQ for SO, so maybe you can help. I saved my game a week or so ago and now I'm stuck. According to all the FAQs I looked at, I should be doing the Training Grounds in Van. But when I talk to the king, he tells me to seek an audience with the other kings. However, I can't even get NEAR the other kings in the game, so I'm stuck.

Hmm... well actually it was TOP that I wrote the FAQ for. But I remember that the king would give you emblems to show off to the different kings, and then you would just go to the Sylvalant, Astral and Moore continents and meet with them, I don't think you need to do anything else. Did you go to the Parji Temple in Astral and beat that yet?

Sylvalant is north of Van, head out of the castle, go south and west, and then you will loop around to the north... keep on following it and eventually you'll go through a cave and come out in the Sylvalant continent. Also once you get to Sylvalant castle and its port, you will now have access to any of the port towns, to make your travel a lot easier.

I tried to go that way and two guards there told me I wasn't allowed to pass without permission.
